Status: offline 		This will be an AAR of my "feeling" and regard to this new goverment type. I just started and loving it already. It has a great RP feeling. Sure gamewise there are better choices, but it is the ONLY ONE which allows for free taxes. No matter how high the happiness always reduces itself by only 5... if your private sector needs to buy new ships, just reduce it a little time beforehand. When it needs nothing increase it again and earn the money for military projects. It is a great idea!




Now to the AAR with the specs as follows:

Everything normal, biggest galaxy, ten races, new independent empires, Juned shipset mix featuring Kalthaniell and Co. No race modified, Legend Vanilla setting!

A hardly dead space




He scratched over the report, always blinking again and again. First the fricking scorpion tearing through his Fusion-Frigate and now a sandslug spitting sandstorms into the atmospere to keep their ship off world. He looked again at his report and started thinking. The scorpion might be a good ressource for armor. Maybe if the lab could research a way to make it flexible. The sand slug though might be a porblem. Especially since its eggs were glued to the ships hull coming back. It clearly infests new planets through space travel. A shocking discovery...



His first advisor came in and CEO Merned discharged the file to a later date.

"CEO we found a space station. Your privat scout the 'CEOs Eyes' provided a repair to be attacked by a beast they discribed as a space slug. Though the base destroyed it quickly."

"A base?" The CEO seemed shocked. "Another group of industrial refugees?"

"No CEO, clearly alien and very old. Deserted millenia ago!"

An alien ship? No a whole base! His fist clenched from oportunity. "Dissect it at once. I want to know everything about it. We want that technology!"

"CEO, the base is behind OUR standards... it must have been an early approach or unimportant."

The thirsty CEO clenched his teeth. The discovery of the millenia and it was a rusty prehistoric base of a dead alien race? Alien scrapmetal? No wonder they died out building such nonsense.

"So it is neither worth keeping nor scraping?"

"Yes, CEO."

"Detonate it! We can scrap the leftovers later..."

"Yes CEO!" The man disappeared.

Again the CEO looked back to his file of the sand worm... slug... whatever. He shoke his head and grabed the long standing thing he regarded as coffee. He vomitted and crushed his holotransmitter.

"What kind of coffee is that!"

The female picture on the other side remarked coldly.

"Vodkol from our new base in the Kurestal system. I thought you could have a try."

"A try? Where the hell is my coffee!!"

"Coffee is extinct, you finished all reserves. I told you every month for two years."

"How can it be extinct? It was limited to drink for me and the higher council of the conglomerate!"

"And theres the problem. You can have synthetic coffee like the rest of the planet."

The CEO deactivated the holotransmitter and threw the cup over his shoulder, slowly crawling over the previous file and turning the space brown.

"Sometimes the direction of our company makes me sick. Than again it is mine."

Galactic Takeover - Of Vermin and Slaves


The day came he ever feared. Aliens, real more or less intelligent aliens. If he weren't as xenophobic as he was he would be now as the race was a group of naked rats. RATS!!
As if it weren't worse enough the secret agents delivering the territory map of their homeworld showed billions of them... more than they numbered themselves. The company was outnumbered by rodents which traded in a mercantile guild. Even worse the ambassador sent word they totally despised the absence of any competition on the Juned market as everything was under control of the Juned conglomerate. 'How dare they!' Was the last the CEO screamed to the ambassador before he decided to show them the power of a single corporation over many as their military was already stronger. He stoped and considered. The ships needed resizing and could crush them more the easy... that was before the messenger came.

"We encountered humans... or something like that. They look like us. One of our explorers followed an old signature and found big headed humanoid beeings without a centralized goverment."

CEO stopped his rodent killing rampage...

"Humans... you said?"

"Something close to us. Clearly a similar evolution strain."

The CEO smiled evil and considered a step. With the corruption running rampant and the consecutively blockade of new technological breakthroughs by the corruption deep within the company he found them a possible... think-slave.

(OOC: Your research malus of 15% at start in reality is bigger. Your actual research cap decreases slowly as your culture gets destroyed until it hits a destinated bottom... you need more slaves for the company to uphold the starting poer and speed! Therefore the corporate nationalism needs power through fusion!)

"Build a colony ship! Send our best traders and dealers and make them kneel before our greatness and might. Oh and give the ship some weapons... just in case. This will be a hostile takeover on trader terms. Yes... let's call our ship 'Hostile Takeover' and when we 'quire the power of another millions of humanoid brains we will use the resized fleet to vanquish the vermin of the galaxy! Crush their stations and ships, destroy every hope of counter attack. Kneel before the one conglomerate you rats, let your mercantile fleets burn to hell!!"

The messenger... rather intimidated and scared... slowly disengaged and delivered the order.

Status: offline 		I got a summary of all "accidents" of a corporate nationalism. I will sort after severity:

Pro

Free choice of taxes without mali greater than -5 to happiness

Contra

Research breakdown to 20% capacity over time [after 6 years reached!] (no competitive labs, only your companys labs. This lowers overall effectiveness. One research, one result, no critics... bad!)
Culture limit at 50% WITHOUT bonuses. Therefore it can be increased by ressource or wonder (monotone society)
- 15% colony income (no free trade, no real impulse)
- 30% growth rate (well it's a bad life in the lower classes. Work, pay, eat, work, die... Don't give that to your kids!)
- 15% research speed (no competition for the goal and no motivation)
- 5 happiness even on low taxes
+ 10% maintenance cost (no cheaper products only those of your company)
+ 20% Corruption (typical bribing into positions)


CONCLUSION:

Corporate Nationalism, a real challenge and a lot of roleplay fun! It is logical, since we are not talking about the Krupp Works giving the worker recreation and fun and a house but we talk about the fact of the speculators finally owning all the markets and giving you **** to life. This is a company ruling distopia!

Everyone wanting and whining for a challenge, this one will give you all taxes you want in exchange for 4/5 of your potential research and half your development! But you can win this!

One word "1984" and YOU are big brother!

Your "YOU are big brother" is spot on!

However, this covers a lot broader territory than the label suggests. Independent thought, enterprise, and generally anything "rocking the boat" is dangerous and does not flower for long. Waste and "Corruption" will include some bribes, but far more simple graft, self-dealing, and direct (legal or illegal) abuse of power. War is a natural recourse to unite the people in common fervor against the enemy.

Status: offline 		I still am reluctant to place this "goverment" on Stalin or Hitler since they were the military dictatorship kind. They did not own all firms... wait actually Stalin did... still Hitler did not own all corporations. They disowned jews etc. to give it to real german people by blood and honor. Of course they had a say in what to produce under the law of war later, but not in total.
Our MD in this game got too few mali in some places, and too less boni in other. For example a dictatorship through military power should be abler to quell rebellions easier per troop on a planet and got a little reduced tax unhappiness (not constant -5 but 50%). Furthermore some benefits of freedom would degenerate too... for example developement caped to 75% or something. And in the end the nazi regime was NOT like the CN.
