German version users please note that the latest public beta (1.05.39) is now available for the German version. You may see a few new items in English, but these will be translated by the time we make a 1.05 version official.

I saw this and uploaded the patch immediatly.

First thx that it works at last.

What language concerns the ä, ü, ö, ß ist not solved like in many games. Why dont you write an ae, ue, oe, ss astead. That would be far better, than to skip this vovels and the sharp ss at all. An example - the verb äußern will be a mere uern right now. If you translate it my way it would be a aeussern, still very strange but better to understand.

The change of play is dramatically. Once the Germans reach the Rumanian border, all border troops next turn are gone. It is like playing HP. At least in my game. How shall I fight border battles after the first turn if nobody is there. Do they all run for the hills? Stalin would tell them otherwise. To me it means I will study the changes now and most likely will install my boxed 1.04 version again, better language translation and reds that fight and die, rather than prissily and surreptitiously sneak away.
Yeah sounds like complaining , I know, but immo I am rather disappointed.

There was no change that I know of to cause the Soviet AI to run away any faster than it did in earlier versions. As for the translation issues, that's something that was done by translators so I can't answer why they choose certain translations over others. If certain characters are actually missing (which is what I think you are saying), then something may not be working correctly. If you can list some problem words, what they should be, what they are, and what they probably are in English and I will look into it.

Afaik Americans simply dont have this 4 specialities of german language on the board. So as I wrote before they are simply skipped in the translation.
Your translators for german language should use german boards to not rape german language. Yes, most is understandable - barely somehow.
The boxed german version 1.04 something does not have this atrocities and besides minor - not so well - translations it is very carefully and well done.
The whole Handbuch (manual) is very professional.

Now first screen - upper right choice choose scenario - in german Scenario wählen, but it is only a Scenario whlen.
And that is all along the watchtower. 4 of 24 characters are missing.

Dont understand me wrong , better a just in time german upgrade than no upgrade.

And about the rumanian border troops , I decided to let them run, there is more valuable prey to hunt.

It is also possible that the translators did their job well, using the correct German letters in their texts, but the program might not be able to display the letters so it simply skips them. No matter what the reason, I agree with Schattensand that the German texts should use the "workarounds" ae oe, ue and ss instead of skipping ä, ö, ü and ß completely. Although I don't really care myself as I generally choose to use the original English versions instead of translated German ones as translations are often misleading.

I've found that our translation files changed from 1.04.36 to 1.04.41 to 1.05 as follows:

Auswählen

to

AuswΣhlen

to

Ausw?hlen

Were you seeing things correctly with the original 1.04.36 version (out of the box)? Is the public beta when you first saw the problem with missing letters?

I've been able to duplicate the problem with the missing characters going from 1.04.36 to the 1.05 public beta. We'll look into what could have caused that. As far as I know we did not release a new translation file with 1.05 so it must be something in the exe. We recently were making some changes in order to accomodate the Russian language and perhaps that caused this problem. Obviously we don't want chopped up words. The fact that the translation file has also changed is not something that should have impacted what has been released to the public because we haven't released new translation files, but it's good that this problem was also found so we can correct it before we release an updated translation file. I'm sorry that this problem got out to the public and we'll try to correct it as soon as possible.

I assume that by registering the game, and joining the member's club, that you will have access to the German version of the public beta patch. If that doesn't work, please let us know. This is something Matrix would have to answer and look into if it doesn't work as I'd expect.

Yes I could register a german boxed WITE, otherwise an upgrade to 1.05 would have not been possible imho.
I would like to have the english version so.
But as boxed version it is somehow difficult to get an english version here and the english download is simply 20 -30 bucks more.
Would like to have the choice to install either version.
In other games that is possible changing some number somewhere.
If that is possible here too I like to know that.

Yes and one more I like to say. I love the game. The winter will be fine for me.

Is there a way to switch to English with a German boxed version?  Nowadays I am just so much more used to the English terms, that'd like the option to choose languages. I assume changing "translation.csv" would do? Any way you guys could upload different language files in the Members Area?
