Wings Over Houston Airshow

Post by Curtis Lemay »

I thought folks might enjoy some shots from the Wings Over Houston Airshow that I took Saturday.

First up is a partial of the flight line. You can see a F4U Corsair, a B-25 Mitchell, a couple of P-51D Mustangs, a P-40 Warhawk, and an honest-to-god, for-real M6A2 Zero.

I only found out the Zero was real later, so didn't get a good shot. It flew a demo, but I bungled the photo of that, unfortunately.

Here's a shot of one of the Heavy Metal Jet Team's formations. The swept-wing plane is a Mig-17. The others are L-39s.

Here's a shot of the "Tora! Tora! Tora!" recreation. Note that the "Zeros" are phoneys. Their only legitimacy is that they were used in the movie.

That's why I didn't tumble to the real Zero's identity till it was too late - this show has lots of phoney Zero's lying about.

Here's a formation you won't see every day: P-47, P-51, F-4, and F-16 together.

The Canadian Snowbirds were the main attraction. Here's one of their formations.

They fly the CT-114 Tutor.
