Count me in.
But why not choose standing army as option? Saves a lot of turns to build up and speeds up the game, especially with many players.

I prefer playing either standing army or playing without the stone age option. Both save time in making the game interesting early on

I tried to use the settings from the first post in my game against 4 AIs. The beginning is not boring, because you have to discover the map around. Stone Age doesn't bother so much, because the initial technologies are cheap, and you have to count every gram of metal, and every drop of fuel.
I vote for these settings to which I agreed to joining the game.

Phil, count me in. Not sure how a water world game will play out but I'll give it a try. Also not sure how well a one town start would work on a water world map, but again willing to try it.

OK. Seems like there are some reservations, but we will keep the original parameters for the game.
I will generate a random starting player order, so please PM me with your email. The order will be determined via the email dice server at dicemaster@nomic.net. You can see how the dice roller works at http://dice.nomic.net/email.html

We can just email the file to the next person in line. Not sure everyone uses DropBox.

RE: Five if By Sea [Recruiting]
Empire dropped out, giving everything to Das Reich. Sultinate allied with Middle Kingdom. Nippon broke alliance with Middle Kingdom and allied with Das Reich.
SULTINATE - 7
NIPPON - 9
MIDDLE KINGDOM - 6
DAS REICH - 23
Das Reich / Nippon = 32
Sultinate / Middle Kingdom = 13
Given the overwhelming advantage that Das Reich and Nippon have, I have suggested that we end the game with the victory being awarded to Das Reich. Not sure what the response to that suggestion is yet.
The game ended up being won diplomatically rather than militarily. The ability of Das Reich to secure the alliance with Nippon was the key moment in the game.
If Nippon had stayed with Sultinate / Middle Kingdom, it would have been a much closer game.

RE: Five if By Sea [Recruiting]
My point total is simply the result of very aggressive early scouting to find resources and cities. I guess the other players didn't do so well in that task. I've been involve in very little military action. Empire had a hopeless situation and decided to surrender and gave me his units and cities (he had no resources). I've begun to give some of the former Empire holdings to Nippon. We will rule the world!!! [;)]

These things happen when you win the ATG lottery. Damn, I should have bought a ticket.

I say let's see what happens for a while. You never know
If it obviously turns into a steamroller, we can end it.

RE: Five if By Sea [Recruiting]
This game is still interesting even if it is now 4 if by Sea. Middle Kingdom and Nippon are battling for supremacy on a small island and the Sultinate and I are doing the same on another small island. Sultinate is trying to maintain a toe hold on a much larger island. That effort is doomed to defeat I'm afraid, as will soon become apparent.
