From world war 2, a brave pilot showing damage to his airplane with a big smile on his face...

Was looking at this documentary and noticed the smallest of things remembering me of what those guys really went through at such a young age (I am 31)...

On a similar topic, this new feature at The Atlantic has hundreds of WW2 images divided into various categories, many of which I haven't seen before.  Well worth browsing.

Very interesting. Looked at the Barbarossa pics.....no.44 was a sad picture, as those two snipers would have been shot shortly after the picture was taken.
