Sengoku demo scheduled for tonight. Curious if this game will become more intriguing than the bland Vic II.

Move along, nothing to see here. Sengoku feels like a dumbed down CK. Same story as with Vic II.

Any chance it'll appear deeper with additional play or is the surface really all there is?

Well, to answer this question, you would have to know Crusader Kings. That's the game where Sengoku will be measured up to.

Aye, I know CK.... Ever since then they went for more accessible and dumbed down - from what I've heard. To be fair given that I heard that I didn't get Vic 2 etc.

That's what made Civ V not as enjoyable as IV. Its a good game but V seems too simple to me.

Ohh and in addition to the dumbing down, who on earth thought that replacing the black of undiscovered terrain with clouds would be a good idea?!?!?!?!?

More than likely some assh*t bean counter who had a "study" done on how the color black depressed monkeys or labratory rats and then drew comparisons ..........Clouds are fun ! and fluffy ! Yay ! Black is cold! Brr ! Depressing ! Get that icky color out of there ! More Hello Kitty colors please !

Wonder if he was also the in-duh-vidual who came up with a loading screen featuring a Christian church in bright sunlight and everything around it in deep shadow...

I never play Civ V. Far too boring.
Rave reviews..best ever...civ reborn...a massive yawn.
But probably only because I've been playing it for 20 years before it was released..
