How do you get your Cruisers to drop the troops but not blow up/ shoot at the colony they are trying to welcome into your collective?
Also can you think about different ground troop types instead of generic mechs (saw mod with different looking troops but would like the 2 foot insects to be harder to hit on a desert world but not do so well when in the close quarter fighting of a swamp.
If you find an independant that doesn't like you is it better for your reputation to send the colony ship full of innocents to get killed by trying to colonize it and then send in the marines or can you simply invade first?

if you hold down ctrl you get a menu of options instead of just "attack"

you can mod the insects to be stronger in combat, but most of the insects are already above average, you can also use the cloning facility to copy an elite troop a ton of times as well.

i dont think it matters what you do with the colony ship, your going to take the reputation penalty anyways for invading. you can get reputation back by defeating pirate bases, which helps mitigate that.

Yap, getting good rep from killing pirates lets you do whatever you want with the dark side
Bad rep should not be so easy to workaround imo.
