11th Jan KB unknown MKB unknown Calcutta 2 Jap subs patroling around. One takes 2 hits from our ASW, with a penetrating hit. Wake P39's attack the PB outside the harbour. Not for sure why it was dead in the water though. Morning Air attack on TF, near Wake Island at 135,98 Weather in hex: Moderate rain Raid spotted at 13 NM, estimated altitude 11,000 feet. Estimated time to target is 3 minutes Allied aircraft P-39D Airacobra x 11 No Allied losses Japanese Ships PB Kaiun Maru, Shell hits 3, Bomb hits 11, and is sunk Whoa 11 for 11 bomb hits. Not bad Aircraft Attacking: 11 x P-39D Airacobra bombing from 100 feet Naval Attack: 1 x 500 lb SAP Bomb Kaiun Maru dead in the water ... These pilots were part of an expermental group. They were trained in low nav with the P39's to see if fighter pilots could drop bombs on some ships. I do believe it worked. They are now working on the A2A skills.
