Coco's
Bombed.

Samulaki
Catalina hits an xAK with a 500lber.  I will sortie out some real bombers next turn.

Koumac
We heavliy damage a sub.  Same sub as yesterday.

Marshalls
Our CV force ends up 9 hex's away from the KB.  KB attacks a lone DD, fighters from our carriers launch to protect it.  No hits are scored.  Japs lose 16 fighters and 4 bombers to our 15 fighters.  Since I now know this is the KB I am running.  I'm 16 hex's from Johnston.  I will run south east then up towards Pearl.  I am sending my Nav search guys back to school.  I got lucky.

Status: offline 		Good job scouting out what you faced with his KB. Good idea to avoid it for a little longer, your still aways from good CV reinforcement and you need to keep your lines of communication and supply open to your men in the Marshalls.

Looks like you are in very good position to begin your midwar offensives.

If you are marshalling so many bg in Australia, that is going to be an unpleasant suprise for your opponent, when you unlease them. It seems that you are doing a good job bashing his airpower over Burma, his airpower might be getting a bit streched, especially when you unleash those heavies.

Keep up the good game.

Status: offline 		I like the fact you are teasing the KB to keep moving and using fuel .. in my limited experience in Scenario #1 the IJ all of a sudden are crunched for fuel .. this strategy encourages the IJ to burn their 401K savings of fuel ... fuel they will so badly need in about 4 months

Not much going on in the past few turns.

Observations:
Burma
Koniu has moved 230 fighters from Rangoon to Taung Gyi and Lashio.  LCU's have moved back into Mandalay.   I figure these fighters are here to protect the troops at Mandalay.

China
There has been no bombings for a few days.  I still see a few bombers around.  He's moving more LCU's into the Sian sector.  I am forming up a second MLR in this region. 

Both of us are quiet now.  Both of us are up to something.  I am wondering where all his Betty's and Nells are?  I know around 50 are in Java, but where are the rest.  I bet he's holding them back for when I start to kick off my invasions.  We will have to see who acts first.

He's getting ready for my big push. No fighters are at Rangoon this last turn, I bet they will be their tomorrow. He has been doing this move (where he pulls his fighters out and then returns them the next turn) off and on since the patch fixed the airfield thing. I'm not ready for a big operation here yet.

Both of us bring in the New Year with sweeps in Burma.  Koniu sweeps Akyab.  I sweep Mandalay.  Japs lose 56 planes (Tojo's, Nick's, and Oscar's).  We lose 46 mostly Hurri IIc's.

We get a report of a AF BF moving to Java.  One of my subs intercepts it.  AK is reported on fire with heavy damage.  I figure it will sink before it makes port.

Truk
We miss the Hyriu.

Today, all my CVs are operational.  I have plans for them all, very soon.

Interesting bit of intel. KB has BB's Mutsu and Hyuga. I checked and the Hyuga has a speed of 25 knots. This will slow the CVs down some.

Jap troops are back at Mandalay.  We sweep and down 14  (but I believe that its more) for 5 of our own. I am seeing alot of support units moving to Rangoon and Singers.  HMM What is he doing?

Possibly not... If CVs Junyo and Hiyo(both capacity 53) are in the KB. They have max speed of 25 knots already so the 25-knot BBs can be embedded into the KB, together with the Kongos, without a loss of max speed. Also, sometimes the IJN divides the KB into fast KB and slow KB...

7th Hurri IIc's swept Mandalay and get slaughtered.  21 lost for around 10 Jap planes. 8th P38's sweep suffering 11 lost for 18 Jap planes.  Will have to stop this, I can't keep losing planes at this rate.  I will have to rethink my strategy.

Sub misses a Brit CA. Thank goodness.

Status: offline 		Joc, you are right Hurris are great on the defense and good againist early Oscars and Zeros.

I have sent 4 American squardons to CT.  2 Army and 2 Marines, lets see how Corsairs do againist Tojos.  I am going to send my 1 Am ID, 1 Brit ID and 2 Indian ID plus armor and other supporting units againist the Jap stack just south of Akyab.  Lets see how bombing troops in rough terrain does.  Koniu has had time to build up forts so this should be a bloddy affair.

Don´t look too much at actual figures when bombing in heavy terrain. Even when losses seems low it can still disrupt the troops. Make sure you bring a lot of combat engineers with you. Good luck!

Also, bombing troops sets them in combat mode if they are moving. This is particularly effective when reinforcements are coming or troops are retreating ..

Bombed.  We will have a small Jap LCU cornered soon in the North.  I don't expect much but victory from the coming battle.

Burma
Koniu is bombing our bases in N. Burma.  He's sucking up my supplies and killing off his own Helen crews.  I am moving my units into place at Akyab.  I think Koniu has his best pilots in Burma right now.

Maloelap
Koniu sent some Zero's, Nicks, and Betty's after my small supply TF.  We lost an xAKL 3 PT boats strafed.  All in all it went pretty good all supplies were dropped off.

Wake
I see a Jap TF of PB's parked here.  I have set DBs to attack nothing.  Now I am setting more planes on Nav attack and see what will happen.

P39's attack the PB outside the harbour.  Not for sure why it was dead in the water though.

Morning Air attack on TF, near Wake Island at 135,98

Weather in hex: Moderate rain

Raid spotted at 13 NM, estimated altitude 11,000 feet.
Estimated time to target is 3 minutes

Allied aircraft
     P-39D Airacobra x 11

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
     PB Kaiun Maru, Shell hits 3, Bomb hits 11, and is sunk  Whoa 11 for 11 bomb hits.  Not bad

Aircraft Attacking:
     11 x P-39D Airacobra bombing from 100 feet
              Naval Attack:  1 x 500 lb SAP Bomb

Kaiun Maru dead in the water ...

These pilots were part of an expermental group. They were trained in low nav with the P39's to see if fighter pilots could drop bombs on some ships.  I do believe it worked.  They are now working on the A2A skills.

Holy cow! I train my B-26 B25 pilots using Hudsons early in the war because low nav works so well wiith the light and medium bombers but that is a briallant idea to send P39's in .. it only takes a few 250 pound bombs to neutralize an xAK .. and it adds to the power projection ...I will do this in my next game

Status: offline 		The 11/11 is not unusual - I'm pretty sure the Airacobras carry two bombs each so 11 hits is really 50%.

I have found that P-40Es with their 500 lb bombs are a potent anti-ship weapon. Put them at 100 feet and they can take on anything short of a BB. I sank a CA off of Luzon with P-40Es. All his fighters were inland at the time, attacking Manila and Clark.

Status: offline 		Aces, I agree B 25/26's are excellent low nav bombing.  I decided to see what fighter pilots could do.  Seen it from a discusion on the main forum.   I am currently training my lov nav bomber pilots in strafing.  I want to see what happens when the B25s with the 75mm cannon comes into play.  I need to train my pilots some more but getting there.

I just looked up the P 39D they only 1 500 pound bomb.  Not being arguementive BBfanboy.  Needless to say I am very happy with the results. Also the PB was out of fuel. Koni did tell me that.

I played the Downfall scenario and right at the beginning my recon showed a large number of xAK/xAKL and small warships at Hangchow, near Shanghai. A raid by 75 B-25 G/J and another 75 B-26 C or D massacred something like 44 merchants and about 24 small craft, including 4 or the hated "E" sub-killers. A DD force sent to prevent any damaged ships from escaping Hangchow found nothing and the port raid the following turn found only two small vessels that survived the previous attack. Most of the damage was from skip-bombing though, rather than just shell hits. The machine guns and cannons help suppress the flak and thus improve bombing accuracy.

We attack 2 Jap subs. With only one small hit on I-158

SE Akyab
We bomb the Jap troops on the 13th for decent result.  We bomb again on the 14th with better results.  P38 sweeps shot down 30 Jap fighters loseing 1 P38 to ops.  We lose 24 Blehnheim IV's and 10 Mowhawks and Sea Hurris.  All the good bombers went in behind the sweeps the blenheims went in during the PM phase and got slaughtered.

Truk
Spearfish sinks an APD and is damaged in the process.  She will make it home for repairs.

Maleolap
Hellens and Bettys took a beating on the 13th.  2 of each was shot down with a lot more damaged by flak.
