Lucky here. The better half is an art director for a graphics design firm. Just updated to Lion. Checking for cool ads to iphoto and imovie. Snow Leopard was very cool in my book. By the way, the imac in our kitchen which both girls, my wife, and I use for all the mundane stuff that happens in that room has been running continuously without Norton etc. for FIVE years. No problems.

That will change. OS-X may be less vulnerable to viruses vs. Windows but its not immune. Its another common myth that Mac's (aka PC's running OS-X) don't "get viruses." My X was one of them....till she started complaining about issues with her MacBook. I did a scan on it and POP! She had two Trojans running on it....one of which kept popping banners on her Safari for Russian porn sites.

Mac's didn't get hit much in the past because viral writers were focusing on Windows machines due to market share. Now that Apple has grown so much....hackers are starting to pay ALOT more attention to OS-X. There have been a couple high level security updates for Mac since then.

And besides....a hand driven washing machine works better without Norton. Yuk. I use Kasperski for both Windows and OS-X. Doesn't bog down a system. Decent protection.

Well strike one for me. I got Win 7 home perm 64 bit up and running on my iMac/lion. I tried installing another old game I like very much which is SH3. It gives me an error stating that it can only run under older versions of windows, I'm paraphrasing. I posted on the forums there for some help but if someone knows anything here that would be useful.
2nd question. How are you running AE on your mac. Are you running in just windows or Parallels. I am not too tech savvy, but I think if you try to run stuff in Parallels it robs your RAM since it is running mac os and windows. In parallels it says you can boot just in one os versus the other but I didn't write it down during the install and can't figure that part out. OR can I do just windows thru bootcamp. I ask for the reason being the RAM issue.
3 I am going to do now and try to install AE and will report back here ASAP. Thanks for everyones help and opinions.

One last question, I am thinking that I need PRO only for the reason that you can run xp and that may be the issue with SH3 not being able to run.

Don't have a solution off hand in the specific for your game....but try doing a search under SH3 and Win7.....'sometimes' there are adhoc solutions out there to make a legacy program work under 7. Steel Panthers WAW isn't too fond of Win7 but a clever user figured out a way to make it behave. Kudos to Shrapnel Games for updating their timeless WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2 to Win7 support.

Your issue is exactly why i triple boot my Mac with both Win7 and XP. Some older games just won't run or run well under Win7 so having XP makes sense...that is if you have a spare copy lying around. Fortunately, AE runs great under Win7.

Bootcamp wizard will only support a dual boot config so if you want to go the above route, I can send you a link to instructions on how to do it.
