I know a number of people talk about David Glantz books on various forums and as a result I got a couple and from what I have read so far they are very interesting. However, Amazon recommendation email mentioned books by a Steven Zaloga i.e. http://www.amazon.com/Battleground-Greatest-History-General-Military/dp/184908551X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1313496502&sr=1-1

Has anyone read his books before and if so are they worth getting?

Steven Zaloga is probably one of the leading authorities on tanks and armored warfare of WWII. His book "Armored Thunderbolt" is, IMO, the book to read on the Sherman tank and US Army armored doctrine in WWII. I'm sure opinions vary on him but a quick look on Amazon shows that he gets mostly very positive reviews.

Hope that helps.

I don't think he actually WROTE this himself, seeing as how he's credited as the "editor"...

To answer your question, Zaloga has written about three million titles for Osprey and he's at his best when he can focus on re-iterating other people's source materials on one specific topic, i.e. battle, campaign or piece of weaponry.

I'm not really a big fan, TBH.
