CenPac: Command TF for 1st ambib. TF 2600nm from the HQ.

SoPac: Halsey's SoPac air HQ being flown into Kavieng from the Shortlands. ARD making good time to Australia.

India: BB Revenge slowed to 3% a turn due to overload at the shipyards. She is still on the critical list; all else switched to low priority.

Burma: Some sweeps ordered.

Question anyone? What / How badly are the US Carrier TFs going to be effected by these "third string" COs??? I have a very bad feeling and am close to offering terms to the Emperor.

December 30th 1943

West Coast: More new units arrive, I can't "buy" them.

CenPac: CV TFs are disbanded in the hopes when we try to reform them tomorrow we get better TF COs. ( Have to leave for work and wonder about it all day.)

SwPac-SoPac: YorktownII suffers additional float damage at sea (1pt), she is 4000nm from port. Halseys advance party to reach Kavieng on the 31st. USMC Col Aguilar reaches there today with some mechanics. USMC Corsairs wil assume defensive roles for the base. Work begins on enlarging the base.

Burma: Spitfires sweep Prome for 6:0.

China: Commandos fly supplies to Arty units on the Yangtze.

India-Africa: Solid ground reinforcements arrive to help fill out Corps preparing for Burma.

New Years Eve 1943

West Coast: ARD in trouble several days out to sea, if the damage continues she will have to return to port.

CenPac: CV TFs leave Pearl: radio silence

SwPac-SoPac: YorktownII gets another float damage. she is 3760nm from port. ARD scheduled into Australia being diverted east. See below. This is a high risk Op designed to get BB Revenge repaired enough to withdrawl. More detail to follow after the O's take care of the Sox. Our hopes rest on 14.2.3.2.1.2 p246.

Burma: Ground forces staging for the spring offensive.

Kurt: I don't know what those CO's will do. But its not about them its about your equipment and men. You are getting better equipment and men everyday now. Remeber that hairy dude, who was getting his butt kicked all over the map. What did he do. He grew some hair and kicked some arse. Yes, I know his name just wanted to say hairy.

I wanted a inspirational pic with hot women but this is all I got.

New Years Day 1944

NoPac: Sub hunting off the HI pays off yesterday with sinking of a large 28pt tanker, full.

East Coast: The Iowa arrives.

West Coast: ARD making progress, no further damage.

CenPac: Long range recon aircraft begin staging towards Kavieng, additional USMC fighters stage in also. Air HQs arriving by troop transport. Only base units lag behind on the jungle road from Namatanai. Planning for operation southern mist under way. It will involved both air and sea units as we try and get an ARD to the Brittish. CV TFs bracketed by subs SSW of Hawaii, measures taken.

SoPac: Amphib. TF almost ready to depart the rear area. radio silence.

Burma: Small fighter actions, we bomb Shwebo (troops). IJA makes a forray between tributaries of the Yellow River. The terrain is good for us as well as nearby reaction forces.

Joe: My biggest fear is "failure to launch" with the CV COs. I like the picture! I'll use it as an inspirational photo at Zulu HQ. B29s are less than 90 days away at Aden so we try to prepare for them and integrate them into the war where they will have the greatest effect. It will be tough to strategic bomb with them at first as I only have 4 squadrons of USAF manned heavies in India and I will need to punish some IJAF bases in Southeast Asia and western China for the spring offensive in Burma. The supply situation in China is greatly improved with so many Dakotas and Commandos. I can resupply ground units almost anywhere I want within a turn or two.

January 2nd 1944

East Coast: The 6th Inf Div has boarded trains for the west coast.

West Coast: Our ARD seems to OK, she is deep in blue water now. We organize transports for the 6th Div and base forces.

CenPac: More carriers put to sea. Our fleet CVs avoid contact with the IJN subs. Our amphib. HQ from Makin is due in 2 days at Pearl. Some subs are diverted to SubDiv A and B to augment and replace boats which will require Pearls services.

SwPac-SoPac: New Ireland is developing nicely; we will need it shorten our supply lines. The first photo recon USN Liberators arrive; we look forward to peeking deeper into the IJ defense ring particularly Rabaul. Our ARD has left port and Operation Sea Mist is a reality now. Aircraft are staging and two large TFs have left ports in suport. Ampib. OP has our TFs merging together tonight and will set sail in 24 hours. YorktownII closes on the equator.

India: My guess is 45 days to launch our counter offensive.

China: Some American units join the Fourteenth (I think) Airforce in China. Chenault has a fully trained Chinese group now. IJA forces have closed on our lines in two places around the Yellow River. We beat off a shock attack yesterday.

You are worrying too much about your TF leaders. Those CV TFs should still fight, there should be no real risk of them not launching air CAP.

Reforming the CV TFs should not result in different leaders. Currently the captain of the ship automatically chosen as the flag is automatically being made your TF leader. So if you put that ship in a TF, the ship captain will again show up as the TF leader.

I let the carriers put to sea several days ago. Four fleet CVs and some CVLs. As Intrepid is now in Cenpac, they will refuel and make for SwPac. Alfred, I sure hope they launch more than anything else. The last few day have been little to report on. Some sub actions, some bombings, and some smallish ground actions on the Yellow River. I will play chess in China rather than brute number games. We have an amphib. TF at sea, several reinforcement TFs, suppy and fuel TFs and ARD TFs. The emperor has again expressed his dismay with air war. He reports veteran pilots flew this raid.

It's one of the days I let the war go on without Zulu HQ to SNAFU it. HQ only stages some groups and resets some recon. Destiny awaits several TFs well to sea in route to assembly areas and beaches. In China we order some Chinese formations on the Yellow River to take up new positions. Very few squadrons flew today. The raids on Taberfane and Koepang are dissappointing. Sweeps in Burma find no opposition.

Not much to report. One nice small victory:

Japanese Ships
SS I-121, hits 15, on fire, heavy damage

Allied Ships
DD Swanson

SS I-121 is sighted by escort

DD Swanson is out of ASW ammo
SS I-121 forced to surface!
DD Swanson firing on surfaced sub ....
DD Swanson firing on surfaced sub ....
DD Swanson firing on surfaced sub ....
Sub slips beneath the wave

Just as she runs out of ammo the boat surfaces. You got to love this game.

We put 64 base hits on Taberfane and only 29 base hits on Koepang. We lose two B24s over Loepang to Zeros. Our ARD is making time up the Australian coast. Intrepid departs Pearl for SwPac. Wasp CV TF makes rendezous for fuel tonight. CVEs should meet up with Amphib. assault TF tomorrow. Engineers busy on New Ireland. Kavieng CAP'd by USMC Corsairs. Namatanai CAP'd by USA P39s and P47s.

West Coast: The New Jersey and Iowa will escort 250,ooo pts of fuel and an equal number pts of supply to CenPac in mid Feb.. Some restricted training squadrons switch priorities to match needs at the front.

CenPac: Carrier TFs refueled and continue west.

SwPac-SoPac: Amphib TF still unspotted but her escorts are. They are 320nm from the target. Extensive recon of Truk shows no major ships in port or at sea. Operation Southern Mist: two squadrons of the 11th BG stage to support the 307th BG badly shot up a couple of days ago. Weather forcast over Taberfane and Koepang is clear.

Burma: Few raids flew yesterday. The weather forcast is partly cloudy for tomorrow so we let the orders stand. There is much staging in India and Burma.

China: The Chinese fighter group is mauled yesterday, it will take months to recover group strength.

Game note: I have to keep an eye on this but I think we have a full moon every day now. 12/12/12??

West Coast: New ARD TF leaves the west coast for CenPac. Large supply and fuel TFs form in ports. Several squadrons stage to ports for debarkation to the Pacific. Convoy to SoPac forms with a Def Bn, coastal AA, and an EAB. The 347th/339th FS and VMF-531 Det also load with them. YorktownII is 1480nm from the yards.

CenPac: Mediums and heavies stage into SoPac. 1 USMC Div to be relieved and TF will depart tonight for them. A USMC Def Bn and TD Bn loading as replacements.

SwPac: Alot of logisitics to support Operation Southern Mist. The ARD "Southern Mist" leaves port after a quick refuel and continues west.

Ceylon: BB Revenge down another floatation point. 13S-72F-25E. (all engine and float are major)

China: The Chinese fighter group is shredded. All three squadrons are shells after massive Oscar sweeps the last 48 hours. Japs achieve a break through north of the Yellow River. It will be contained with minimal loss.

Joe: Talk about naval blundering!

CenPac: radio silence

SwPac-SoPac: Musashi and Yamato believed to be spotted at Taberfane, probably topping off as we have seen tankers there. Hell Divers and Liberators alerted. Southern Mist proceeds but may lose a couple of days if the big Jap BBs raid east, and their heading is south east. Terrible news from Munda hits Zulu HQ. We land another 50AV last night but Akagi and Ryuho (possibly Junyo to) arrive in the morning. Our screen is 240nm to the west (patrol zone) and whiffs. The IJN naval avaiators score quickly and often. We do "shoot first" but go after the IJN picket and miss. We also lose most of our attack aircraft and escorts (Corsairs). In the first wave, 83 Jills and Judys with a small Zero escort smash into CVEs Sangamon and Chenango. Torps sink both. A destroyer is set alight to. We get another wave in but without escorts, this time on the their carriers. 17SBDs in, 8 come out. No hits. The carriers only mount a 15 Zero CAP. Sixteen Avengers hit next and 12 Zeros splash 3 and damage 8 more. No Hits. We get another raid in on their screen but it to scores no hits and the AA does deadly work. At the end of the day from Burma to Munda we lose 70 aircraft to 38. Of the thirty eight some are Oscars swept by P38s in the CBI. The afternoon attack by the IJN goes in against the amphib. forces. Tennessee and Nevada are doubtfull at best. Four big AKs are burning and two APAs are lost. All we can do is reinforce the Dive bombers and add more escort for tomorrow. Two surface TFs were "knee Jerked" by TWIT into intercepting the Akagi. This will probably make a nice coup de gras for the Emporer. The IJN ground forces on Munda recon for us in the bombardment phase. They only show 59 unadjusted (I presume) AV with an additional JNAF unit.

Burma: We pound Mandalay and Schwebo and sweep central Burma. The ratios are in our favor but not by a wide margin.

China: The IJA tries to force the mountain pass near Taiyuan with 2 divisions and a tank Reg. In the only good news of the day 6th Group Army repels them with great loss. 3370 casualties to 353.

Your CAP didn't fly mine did.  I sent in 1 CV verus 3 with no pickets and poor nav search.  I thought I would of had 3 days before the MKB showed up but no they struck in 2.  I am packing my cold weather gear for a transfer to Alaska.

This should be a good day for Allied HQs as streams of new ships appear in US ports, but.

SwPac-SoPac: Entire Kido Butai in the Bismark sea except Akagi group to the NW. Hiei, Kirishima, Haruna, and Kongo bombard Manus. We send some small packages at them and bounce two 1000#ers off'em. Off Holandia our screen gets mauled in two seperate raids. CLs Marblehead and Denver are afire along with a DD. CL Richmond takes a bomb hit also. The screen is to far to the west for LBA and is in trouble. I did not expect the other 4+ carriers to show up and close the range. I was looking for an intercept to the NW expecting Agagi to egress with her vastly depleted squadrons. The Tennesse is still floating without a hull. Shes hit by three more bombs and was at 95%F. 23 Bettys whiff on the Denver in the afternoon. The IJN flies 160+ strike missions during the day. Liberators do show up over Koepang and get 9 on the field and damage another 11. Southern Mist still steaming west. Her refueling oiler alters course to an out of the way inlet. The Spotting of the Yamato and Musashi at Taberfane was correct and they chose Darwin. 283 casualties, 39 base hits, and 46 damaged aircraft. SS KXIII gets a torp in Musashi, combat report says serious damage. She was lurking in port and gets pummeled by depth charges but survives and disbands in port. We capture Manus at tremendous cost to the Navy and Marines.

China: IJA recons by artillery. We release a Chinese Army group from reserve and send them to the Yellow River Line.

Burma; Small allied air raids and sweeps.

Joe: I'm in line for an Aleutian island transfer. Geez! I can't believe I was out guessed again! I thought for sure the IJN would follow past moves by departing in the face of success, (and towards the NW as I have Truk under a watchful eye) not reinforce with at least 4 more carriers and press in. I think the Emporer maybe staging fleet units in the Marianas now. The spot on Akagi was 40-80nm from Tinian and Saipan (NW). Next trun I am going to look for a "perch" to look in there if possible. As to switching to the dark side, I am at present a commited AFB, although I find the Empire alluring. I would much prefer another round as allies should the opportunity present itself. I FUBAR'd 1942 while learning a great deal and want another chance. Kinda like Jerry wanted another chance with Elaine when he found out she was faking.

God I hate Seinfeld.  That show was so stupid.  I know how you feel about beeing out played.  Take a sec breath deep leave the computer for awhile and come back with a clear head.  Think from his perspective also.  Then form ur plan.  Thats what I do, maybe you can get it to work.

The only thing the Jap side has that I like is the prodution.  I have been bouncing ideas with Koniu about a mod.  I thought of both opponents redoing the naval treaties and whatnot.  Decide what ships to build cancel troops locations and stuff then mod the game and play it.  Yea, I want another game.  I know I can do better Koniu has taught me alot and kicked my ass all over the place.

CenPac: Southern Marshalls: Escorted SBDs miss on an APD, the destroyer last seen at Tarawa. resupply, reinforcement, or evacuation? HI: we get an xAK.

SwPac: The sea battles of Manus and Hollandia wind down. IJN TFs move to the NW (now). On Manus the last Japs are cleared from the island. The screen TF meets the IJN BBs egressing to the NW and lose the Denver. The three DDs left standing land over a dozen shell hits and absorb a few before the CL Denver goes down. The TFs will meet three more times during the day in heavy rain but will evade each other. Fine by me. SS Gar tries to land a fish at this IJN TF to but can't get by the DDs and will have to set sail for port. Bettys try again on whats left of our screen and whiff again. I think all three DDs will live to fight another day. The super IJN battleships depart to the NW from Darwin and are spotted and attacked by the RAAF with to little to late. They score no hits, but the monsters are out of the meadow. Southern Mist ordered on without delay. The Taberfane raid yesterday should keep the largest airfield for the next leg down for awhile with only smaller squadron level raids to keep it suppressed.

Burma: The air war continues, just when Zulu HQ thinks we are gaining air superiority, the ratios change and more IJAF appear in forward fields. Next game we send at least a group to India in '42 of heavies.

China: Much IJA recon by arty. He's feeling me out on all fronts there.

West Coast: The New Jersey makes port. The Iowa is not far behind. The yorktownII is only 480nm from the yards.

CenPac: SS Sawfish gives a little pay backto the northwest of Manus. The location of the attack leads me to believe the Marianas is an IJN nest.

SwPac-SoPac: B24s lay the wood on Taberfane. Only one squadron sent to Koepang. In 48 hours we plan a group size raid. The squadron does score decent base hits and claims a couple of Zeros on the ground.

Burma: In the first strategic raid of the war a reinforced group of Libs hit Magwe and score 88 oil hits. I'll have to look it up, no clue what it means.
