Status: offline 		Reserve front - Powerful, with many cavalry corps. Despite unfavourable ground and strong resistance was able to punch trough 20-25 CV defence line and advance at steady pace forcing constant withdrawal.

Moscow MD - In November practically all units were transferred to other areas. Its current strength was built up recently, but is is still very low.

Western Front - Very strong, but despite its strength wasn't able to achieve proper penetration - faced toughest defences. (many forts occupied by 3 units, up to 35 CV)

Bryansk front - Was to advance in parallel line to Western Front, but stiff resistance in the north and opportunities in its southern part diverted big chunk of its strength south.

Status: offline 		Volkov Front - Practically non-existent at the beginning of offensive, was quickly strengthened in next two turns and at the end of December managed to punch hole in very weak German line. Constant reinforcing was enough to maintain decent momentum of advance.

Caucasus Front - Created in mid January. Very limited contribution so far.

Southwest front - Most powerful front with plenty of cavalry corps. Heavy fighting (first line of defences was 15-20 CV) drained its strength but its advance was crucial for successes of nearby fronts.

Southern front - Gradually reinforced, pushing forward at steady pace.

T31 - 5 inf div
T32 - 1 inf div
T33 - 2 inf div + 1 Rom inf div

Overall, since beginning of Dec:

10 inf div, 1 air div, 2 Rom inf div (11 Ger + 2 Rom)



I am relatively pleased with casualties ratio:

Men (Ger/Sov) - 793k / 710k
Guns (Ger/Sov) - 8,7k / 7,3k
AFV (Ger/Sov) - 1,4k / 2,5k


So far I feel blizzard's offensive can be considered my minor victory. Starting east of Stalino and finishing near D and Z towns is good for my ego too.

Still there is much to be done and armament industry looses will soon start to affect me.

Status: offline 		Kamil put up a good defence. I was able to achieve goals, but very late in season.

Therefore blizzard defences were weak and I basicly started withdrawing along most of the front in late December.

We flipped the 1.05 switch turn 32.

I am light on tanks but generally I am down around 1500 to 1000 by end of blizzard. Mech units have very few tanks in them. Kamils army is smaller and has less Guns. I am hoping I am able to have same results as that game come the first turn of snow. That was vs level 2 forts and as we know it takes allot longer to build them now.

Kamil Blizzard O has been very good, but my losses are about even with many past games. Not sure how the system figures it all out, but Kamil has cut off allot more units then most yet my total manpower losses are still around 1.5 million.

My over all numbers are about normal 2.8 million which is normal.

It be interesting game with new patch for sure and Kamil is a good player.

Ok now I got to figure out how this PBeM system works.

Status: offline 		I am curious too how 1.05 would have impacted how much Kamil could have built the Red Army entering Winter.

Under 1.05, he would enter December the same, except his morale should be overall a bit lower.

January usually is when the Red Army moves alot of ment from the Manpower Pool to the front as Armament production increases, but maybe not so much now

I think Your losses at the beginning of December were lower than usual, so being extra active got me only to average figure of inflicted casualties. It is assumption.

It is charm of server games - you can't access important data from previous turns.

Status: offline 		T35, midway through February. I try to maintain reasonable balance between maintaining momentum of advance and preparing for Pelton's snow counter-offensive. I fell I fail.

North and Centre - I am trying to pocket few divisions here and there but with very limited success.

Status: offline 		In the south situation is bit more dangerous. His resistance is stiffening my defences are still non-existent, what can be lethal, because fighting in flatlands favours attacker.

Thing, that concerns me most is increasing number of soldiers in German units (I lost screenshot) - plus 100k in two turns despite moderate losses (170k).

Status: offline 		Under 1.05, the number that needs to be focused on is the "captured" number in the SU casualties, as this now forms the Hiwi pool, which in turn will determine how much manpower the Axis will have to absorb the attrition of 1943 onwards.

The "anti-factory" strategy while great in principle, has to interact with an "anti-manpower" strategy. At the moment Pelton is fighting 1.2m more armed men than historically, so if he has not taken out 1.2m armaments points he is not ahead of the game, and he will have at least 120k less frontline troops in 1942 onwards through having fewer Hiwis.

BigAnorak the manpower tragady is only going to work vs a newbie. All things being equal a vertern rrussian player is not going to lose more then 3 million men. Why? because there is zero reason to fight, screen with junk, fall back, and evac production.
The pocket thing only works when your playing newbies, which at this point is 9 out of 10 russian players.

Ok back to this game.

As far as blizzard goes Kamil inflicted good loses about 120,000 more then I normally take. Because I had to push until last turn of snow to get 88 arm and 38 hvy bagged. In other words good playing on his part. He probably should have evaced more production, but if he had he would have had weaker defences.

The plus on my side for blizzard is Kamil only has a handfull of guard units.

Again I have zero reason to fight forwars, so I just retreated keep loses much loser then normal for my very weak position.

Tanks numbers are low so I am thinking I have to wait until summer to try and offensive.

My numbers are much stronger then I expected 2.8 million. Probably because we patched in 3rd turn of January and I had a crap load of Hewis in bank.

With the lowering of arm production I am guessing the 88 lost arm pts will be a very large blow to Kamil production. His gun numbers are low for this time of yr, looking back at my other games.

Status: offline 		Last 2 turns of blizzard were times of employing half measures - not fully attacking, but not yet defending. Cautious approach led to inflicting less losses than I planned, but still overall I am pleased.

Starting from level of moderate losses I was able to get them beyond average level. Plus I got lots of ground and destroyed decent amount of German units - 167k captured Germans will reinforce People's Liberation Army of Germany.


Destroyed Units T36-37:

T36 - 2 Ger Inf, 1 Slo Sec
T37 - 2 Ger Inf

Overall, divisions destroyed during Blizzard: 19 Ger, 2 Rom, 1 Hun, 1 Slo


Winter Casualties Ger/Sov:

Men 1111k / 972k
Guns 12,6k / 10,3k
AFV 2,0k / 4,3k



I think key to my success way focus - I completely ignored large sections of the front, attacking only through narrow corridors (max 6 hex wide). Once fort line was breached (end of Dec) I pushed hard, and started inflicting more casualties and pocketing units (Jan and Feb) - Pelton tactics of linear defence helped greatly - he was so spread I was able to make lots of successful hasty attacks that let me create small pockets.


At the moment my problem is manpower. I have 43 Guards Inf Div 1 Guard Mountain Div, 1 Guards Cav Corps and even 1 Guards Tank Brigade.


I still expect being outplayed in Summer Campaign (Pelton's defence wasn't good but attacking he is much, much better than me defending), but my situation improved since November.

Pelton's counter-attack didn't materialise. His forces seemed to be inn worse shape than I thought. Instead he made really smart manoeuvre - retreated few hexes to avoid front-line attrition and speed up post-winter recovery.

Germans are still much stronger than me so I am reluctant to go forward in force. So I again employed half measure - tank brigades will hopefully be enough to increase Pelton's losses. Now it looks a bit scary - only 2 turns after winter his numbers are almost 3M.

Status: offline 		Wow, you really pounded Pelton during the Blizzard.

If Bletchley Geek is listening, I am seriously worried about the 1.05 Blizzard. The big problem is forts; under 1.04 the Wehrmacht would leave lots of forts behind the lines by accident. Now, it's just blank space. I'm not worried as much about December, I am very worried about January, when the first forts are gone and you are fighting in the open. Not good.....
