Have any of you ever thought and then carried out having a third party hold the passwords to your PBEM should an opponent go missing, or worse? This is after all a rather large and long undertaking.

Never considered it before, but it's a petty good idea.  My current PBEM is a 2x2, so we don't have this potential issue.

OK I suppose that I could offer my services as a 3rd party PW keeper.

I would accept your PW and log it with your email and opponent's like information.  If I was contacted requesting the info by a party I would attempt to get a hold of the person whose PW is being requested.  I would then release the info if:

It was approved for me to do so.
I got no response to my inquiry within a reasonable amount of time.

If you're interested in this PM me with your email and I'll contact you for your information.

See what getting older makes you think of....

Sounds kinda like a testosterone bank or that high-tech seed storage facility in Iceland or the Svalbard Islands or somewhere it's cold.

Good idea, Tocaff.

Do you think Matrix should open a separate forum on its webpage for this service?
It somewhat reminds me of MS Passport.

USS Mike...I'd be happy to hold onto your passwords. You know, for safety and so forth. I'm here to help.
