I did this before with the old version. There was some setting I remember that required a template to change. I don't mind the map fonts as they have improved. It's just the unit and battle report fonts that I'd like to change to something less 'courier-like' and perhaps larger for my tired eyes.

Okay -I found the thread. I was able to change the font, but would prefer white over gold letters. Can anyone help?

Tried changing 'font color' under unit small and medium to no avail. I need to replace a color code, but to what?

They're RGB values, so I looked for gold rgb, and wikipedia says that the magic number is...0xFFD700, so put that in for the text color. Make sure that WindowsFont=Y. The other option is to edit the actual bitmap if Windowsfont=N.

In case you missed it, you can also change the screen resolution by changing the Opart 3.ini file.

Thanks Ralph. I appreciate the help. Now, you say you looked for gold. If I want white I should probably check back at Wikipedia for white, no? I'll give it a shot.

White is easy, it's 0xffffff.

The best thing to do may be to download something like Paint.Net or some other program that has a color wheel, most of them will tell you the RGB values to put in.

I never looked for it, and the only time I really used it was to do AARs(way back when)but I thought it displayed more info like that. That definitely puts me in the driver's seat. Thanks -and I really like the way the game works now. I don't know what you'll do for the sailors, what you can do, but in time they'll get some fair representation. I'll be testing Countdown to Infamy with 3.4. I'm hopeful some of the weirdness i encountered with the Pearl Harbor attack will not occur(plus I'll be on my quad-core this time). I'm obligated not to start until these slow-pokes get War in the West to 11/41. You may have time. OTOH I'd be happy to have to start over for the right reason. Doing the math, we'll take 8 years or so at the current pace. Naturally , I'm trying to bring that number down with time rules.

Now the only problem appears to be which number to change. It's apparently not the unit info color. I'm hesitant to experiment too much.

You can backup your original Opart 3 fonts.ini and start right away with experiments..why not?

Be it as it is, the most common fonts all in one picture:

Note that i don't use the deafult font for the Place Name Fonts but that i kept the standard sizes/colours to stay in "sync" with the conventional use.

All other fonts that are not displayed on the screenshot should be self-explaining. Document Font, Small Supply Font, Objective Font, Tool Tip Font.

Medium Font is also used in the Battle Report and all other info screens (Theatre Options, Replacements, Air Briefing, Situation Briefing etc pp)

Just note that if you want to see those SS Runes, you need to use the bitmapped fonts for the Small and Medium Fonts (and a couple of others - I forget their names).

UnitInfoSmallFont is the only other one where SS Runes are displayed i think.

Btw, could it be that the engine since 3.4 automatically 'translates' SS into the Runes? In the scenario from the above screenshot i entered the letters normally and it converted them to Runes. Previously one had to type Strg+B to get the runes. I would prefer the old setup as i always use windows fonts in small and medium font.

I tried changing the medium and small font values but nothing changed. Do I need to restart the computer?
Actually, first I changed the back color as it was the only value listed. Then I injected a text color, though neither action has changed the text color in my reports. It's still gold, but I suppose I could learn to live with it. I'd really like to replace all the gold lettering with something white, but like i said, it's not a huge deal. Ian(sapper32) appears to have the font I want. Perhaps I'll just ask him for his Opart 3 Font.ini values so I can copy and paste them into mine.

It's really not complicated. You need to restart the game after you made the changes. That is if you have the game running while you make the changes.

In the screenshot i posted i have disabled backgrounds. Under each Font Section you can do this with Background=Y.

Eras Medium ITC (with outline=N), Arial, Calibri and Verdana (these would need outline=Y, but in the end it's a question of personal taste) work well as Medium and Small Font.

Here's what i use (as in the screenshot):

In your display, your unit info is still gold. I was hoping to have all this font white as it would be easier on my eyes. I'm making a big deal out of nothing though.

Then, under [Colors] change Gold= to 0xFFFFFF for white, or anything you prefer. That's all you gotta do.

In the opart 3 fonts.ini file, under UnitInfoMediumFont and UnitInfoSmallFont have you set WindowsFont to Y?

That's normal. Nothing you can do about that (except switch back to bitmap fonts) Pity, but it is as it is.

Did you try pressing the "Ctrl" key and the "A" key at the same time to get SS runes in the editor?

But then, as Telumar said, you might need to switch back to the bitmap fonts.
