Is there any benefit on leaving units in Ready status instead of placing them in Reserve whenever possible?

The way I see it, placing as many units in Reserve has the benefit of having them helping nearby fights, and I couldn't find in the manual any negative effects.

Any thoughts?

Units below 55 morale may rout when in reserve and the battle is lost, its in the manual

Very good, fair enough (albeit I think it's a small penalty to pay for spoiling a few German attacks).

How about Refit vs. Ready? I couldn't find any combat penalty for units in refit, so placing my front-units in Refit probably has the benefit of getting them replacements above the 60% TOE limit (for Russian Infantry). Seems to be a big plus if one is trying to keep front-line strength.

There is no penalty keeping them in refit. Except that everyone will get a small slice of the pie. I prefer to use refit for units that really need it so that I can fill the unit out fast.
