The works of Geyerfalck and Shellshock have inspired me to try my hand at a Unit Box mod.

Get it here:

WitE Unit Box Mod

Back-up your originals.

Place these two .bmp files in the Dat/Art/Gui folder of the game directory.

The Darker Version (as requested by Lutzow):

Get the Dark Version here:

WitE Dark Version Unit Box Mod

The No Portrait Version

Get the No Portrait Version here:

WitE Unit Box Mod (No Portrait)

Other MODS associated with this theme can be found at the following links:

Looks pretty good. Just one thing to improve: reduce opacity somewhat. Makes it easier to read white text on the flags.

Nice work- is it possible to have a version without the happy snaps in them?

brilliant idea! SS definitely deserve their own background.

The game engine does not support this; you can only have two backgrounds--Axis and Soviets. However, if you check out Geyerfalck's GUI Mods, you are one file away from the presentation shown below--which gets you one step closer to the look that you desire:

To duplicate the image above, download Geyerfalck's Landser Mod, copy the Counter76x76.tga file from the Art/GUI/Units folder and paste it into the same folder in the WitE game directory on your computer. Make sure you back-up the original files in case you want to go back.

Get Geyerfalck's Landser Mod here:

Thanks again, it's good to have alternative versions, I prefer the darker background, without portrait. For me, this combination gives the atmosphere, without compromising the data text and they work very well in the game.
