Gloves! I haven't been there, but my Marine son has. Mike, a staff sergeant, has served two combat tours in Iraq, with his first Afghanistan assignment due in April. Maybe the troops are now provided for better. But when he was there, Mike was most in need of thick winter gloves. It can get freezing cold there on winter nights, even in the desert. We sent him a couple pair. We also sent over several food "care packages". The most popular item? Ramen noodles. He and the platoon he commanded ate them up quick! Sometimes it's just the littlest things that keep our troops happy.
