Graphics Overlap Bug

Post by Gandalf »

Not sure if this has been reported before. (Clean install of v1.02)

edit> Went back and installed/checked previous versions. This glitch was introduced AFTER the initial game version release (v1.00). In other words, the initial setup file installation does not have this bug. All the other follow up patches DO have the bug. Win7 (64) w/DirectX 11.0

Hope you can find the cause for the glitch introduction and return it to the original (v1.00) non overlaped condition for the upcoming beta patch. [:)]

Interestingly...

I was able to get this to correct itself by toggling the DPI settings after reinstalling the latest v1.02 patch. This was not needed for the reinstallation of the original v1.0 installation.

Since I've found a solution for now, save your efforts and if anyone else reports this issue, suggest they toggle the DPI settings.

It happens because you have your graphics set to greater than 100%. The same thing happened to me. The new graphics are so good that I finally reset my system to 100% even though I now have to squint to read my mail; it's still worth it.

On Windows 7 (and it's similar on the older operating systems) go to the Control Panel and open "Display"

The first thing that pops up is a selection for

Smaller 100%
Medium 125%
Large 150%

Select "smaller 100%) and you are good to go

EDIT I type too slowly [:)]

The odd thing was that I could run WITE v1.00 with the DPI set to Medium 125% with no graphic overlap. The later updates are requiring the Smaller 100% setting.

IIRC, the variable font change was in the first Beta patch. While it solved a number of problems for me (e.g. a totally illegible Commander's Report) it did cause this overlap of text in a number of screens.
