New to CC and TLD - New Campaigns?
Hi all
While waiting endlessly for CM:Normandy (is it safe to mention that in here?), I figured I would give CC a whirl. The holiday sale certainly helped open my wallet [:)]
Anyways, having fun with it. But I am looking for a longer GC. I saw that the original CC5 included has one that goes to the end of June, but it has all the old sounds and old graphics and such.
So my questions are:
1. Is there a good site or sites where I can find additional campaigns?
2. I am looking for a big, long campaign. Any suggestions?
3. Has anyone brought the original CC5 campaign up to speed in the TLD? Is that even possible with the different map?
4. If its not possible to bring the CC5 campaign into TLD, what are the differences between playing the stock CC5 and TLD?
Thanks in advance
Chad

Hi,
answers:
1. try this link for extra content, although not necessarily additional Campaign's
http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/Long ... Dmods.html
2.TLD's Grand Campaign is pretty long ... not in number of days, but battles ... since it covers a larger beach front.
It has been reported that CC5 GJS mod is been converted to TLD, and it has a long Campaign.
3.I'm not sure, but a type of the original CC5 comes with TLD.
4.As mentioned, it covers a larger beach front,(Utah, Omaha, GJS) ... as well as other enhancements.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes TLD campaign has a lot of battles, but its across a broad, narrow front. I know the old code is limited, but it would have been awesome to see the campaign map take you up to just before Cobra - ie. include Cherbourg, St Lo and such.
Thanks again
Chad

Certainly not, Sir!
You'll have to be tarred and feathered!
[:D]
Jesting obviously.
What news from the Dark Side?
Will they have 1:1 representation; and has their attitude to modding changed?

Not so much the dark side as a common brother in arms. These days just to have *any* wargame that is not going mass market watering down is nice. BFC and Matrix are the only places I look for computer games anymore.
Anyways, CM is coming along great - in my opinion atleast. They (BFC) rewrote their code from the ground up and included such things as 1:1 representation, better graphics, a much more robust and realistic TO&E and many other things. It was a bit of a rough release a couple of years ago their first game with this new engine, but things have smoothed out very, very nicely now. There were three add-on modules for this game and a standalone game from a Russian developer. BFC is finishing up their return to WWII now, and honestly, I havnt been this excited for a release since WitP:AE.
Modding, as far as I know, is limited to visual and sounds aspects. But the scenario editor got much, much more functionality.

Would there be interest in a " Breakout" campaign?
Would most certainly love to see that.

Sorry, what I said before was for *both* the scenario and map editor - which really is the same thing and therefore why I did not state is separate.
You can create any map you want, and put any units you want into it. Red vs Red. Blue vs Blue. Red and Blue vs Blue. Pretty much if you can imagine it, you can create a scenario for it. The game is set in Syria, but the community has made scenarios for Iraq and Afghanistan based on battles that occured there.
