Has to be one of ours. I think there are only 3 other countries that have subs that could get here and do that. Plus it's pretty big, like ICBM big. Wonder where it landed? Anyway, it's probably just a lack of communication. I can't think they would do something like that and not give local law enforcement a heads up. That makes no sense, for a variety of treaty, telemetry, political, and foreign trade reasons. You don't launch missiles near population centers, even if in international waters, without notification and extensive Notice to Mariners pre-publication. You REALLY don't do something so bone-headed stupid right next to the biggest nuclear-armed power on the planet.

My bet is amateurs with an enhanced-contrail homebuilt rocket, looking for just the reaction they got in the first 12 hours. They may not like the reaction they get in the next 72 though.

The Pentagon? You mean the same Pentagon who claimed in 2009 that the US are not Still torturing people in 194 different secrat prisions arround the world?

HaHa, I don't think there is as much as a tiny chanse that this is anything but a US plot.
Maybe it is secret R&D going on - US can not admit it as it might be a treaty valuation.
Or since this was near the approach path to KLAX maybe it was a failed assassination attempt.

It is impossible to say, they will never tell you - you will never know.

Obviously this is a missile launched by the US itself, there is no other nations interested in launching Inter continental ballistic missiles next to the US coast.

This is communication from the US, one of their many various ways of communicating their threats or comments to the world, or in this case to a part of it - specifically to Asia. The US did this all the time during the Cold war as well. If the US want to threaten Iran they can move some Carriers to the gulf, but that wont work on China because China has developed the Carrier killer DF-21D.

It can be compared with what Russia is doing now almost every day, the flying of Long range Nuclear Armed bombers up and down the US East coast, launched from their air bases in Venezuela.


There are many different things ongoing in Asia right now the US is upset about, and I assume you are intelligent enough to realize that this missile is launched by the US itself, despite the fact that they are lying about it.

It does not, it's simply pointing to incidents in military history and shows a specific military institution as unreliable.
It is used as a method in synto-theoretical circular argumentation showing that due to the (very many in fact) incidents this institution must be considered unreliable and for this reason should under no circumstances be trusted. So, when they say "we know nothing about this, its not us.. " then there is no reason to assume that they are telling the truth.

If you then move this a little forward and look upon the military and political history of this nation as a whole, then you will see that it has a culture of misleading its population over and over again, and that then by itself strengthens the ultimate conclusion that the words of this institution should not be taken the slightest seriously.

If I translate it is standard synto-theoretical circular argumentation, that points to or takes no political stand what-so-ever, instead it try's to analyze the situation and produce a reasonable conclusion.
