Hi,

I've noticed there is a recurring theme concerning Atomic Games V4V and WaW "wego" operational level wargames. Over the past few years it has been oft suggested in many threads (including by myself) that Matrix attempt to acquire or otherwise obtain permission to update and reissue these fine games. I can't recall ever reading anything beyond a suitably vague response to those suggestions.
Is this something you would consider in a positive light??
If so, have you or will you act on it??
Maybe you could set up a poll for your clientele to vote on if you're curious as the level of support for the idea.........

Actions, as they say, speak louder than words. To date Matrix's actions suggest that you are either unable or unwilling to run with the idea.
As a loyal customer I'm just curious to know what I can expect in this regard. Yes or no ---- no maybe's please. Got enough of those in the Combined Arms forum.

In the meantime I'll just keep on having a great time with Panther's excellent Battles for the Bulge game.

Yours in the hobby,

Rob.

Matrix have tried to buy the rights to many old games but the owners won't sell.

Every couple of months someone posts the same question. Age of Rifles too.

I've posted this in here before. Look up who owns the "Age of Rifles" trademark. It's Jim Rose of SES. It'll be a cold day in hell when Matrix gets that licence.

Yes, we love those games. CA remains our attempt to revisit those and I am still hopeful it will be released.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks for responding!

Reading between the lines I think I have my answer.

However, "...still hopeful......" doesn't exactly fill me with confidance though. Oh well, that's another thread for a different forum.

Regards,

Rob.

Ok...I'll bite...What is the problem with Jim Rose? And i'd really like to know as I seem to have missed something... I would figure that anyone would try to make money off a product if they could...

Or am I opening a can of worms here?

Oh, oh ... me, me ... too ...

V4V would be great ... only if CA stalls ... or becomes stuck or bogged down ... it's truly been in works a LONG time!!

Honestly (not just because I am a huge fan...really...) I think the the product that would elevate Matrix to "Hero of the wargaming world", would be a rewriting of the Steel Panthers II/III series.  We have WinSPWWIII/WinSPMBT and SPWAW enh., but Shrapnel is never going to do a major updating of the WinSP series (graphics, sound, etc.)  and SPWAW has the code in limbo...

I think there would be a national wargaming holiday named in Matrix's honor if they wrote/sponsored a Steel Panthers game for modern computers (please no 3D...that would be going too far...yuck).   ...and it would have to be a *faithful* Steel Panthers facsimile...
