Has anyone seen this indy movie yet? I just started watching it on Netflix before my video crashed. Albatross D3s getting jumped by SE 5s and all. What a relief that every German plane is not a Dr1 like in 'Flyboys'.

Anyway I only caught about 5 minutes and it looks pretty good so far. I hope it doesn't devolve into drivel.

I was really looking forward to The Red Baron but after watching it I was very disappointed. The love angle was completely out of place and the planes zipped through the sky like some Star Wars movie. I actually liked Flyboys better and it sucked. Just watch The Blue Max and forget about this new crap.

Have to agree...was looking forward to seeing it and when I did, I was fairly disappointed. Didn't really keep my interest. Although maybe Flyboys is not that authentic, I did like it a lot better as a movie.

Oh no, the Blue Max movie has suddenly brought back a memory I had playing Flying Circus Gold years ago. Remember in the Blue Max where the one pilot (Willy) was doing som acrobatic stunts, flying low and through the stone pillars of an aquaduct or something?

Well, in that Flying Circus game which came out years later, of course, they had a solo scenario in which you test your flying skills in the same way "and the whole squadron has come out the stand and watch", hehe. Of course, it's an impossible stunt and I crashed every time.

WINGS is still the best wwI airplane movie. Of course it's an old silent movie but I've watched it more than any other. The other good one is Dawn Patrol with Erroyl Flynn.

Not an Indi film, It's a German made production.
and yea I loved it, but then I liked it for the Albatrosses and Voss and Wolfram von Richthofen(One of the LW generals I like reading about myself)

I finally got to watch it and I thought it was quite good... except for the fraternization with Roy Brown and the inadequate ending. I love the Albatross and this movie held me all the way through.

Blue Max - loved as a kid in the 60's but the more I watched it the more I want to slap that pasty faced Peppard. Earns points for being a classic and having non-CGA aircraft in color. Flyboys was Hollywood drivel, but still fun to watch. Red Baron is best of the 3 IMO.

I enjoyed the Red Baron as well... I also didn't like the phony story with Brown... I hate when Hollywood tries to change History for a better story.. But I was still entertained by the flick..

I enjoyed the Red Baron.

I did not like the modern film technique of squeezing hundreds of aircraft into a space the size of a bread box.

All modern movies do the same thing. Very annoying.

I haven't seen it yet, but after being very bored and watching Flyboys, I don't think I want to risk watching the Red Barron.  I've seen too many perversions of history as it is...

In general, most "historical" movies have to be taken for what they are, which is entertainment. They will often add some sort of fictional story (usually a romance) thinking that it will increase attendance. [Examples Midway, Pearl Harbor] They do often miss the point however and make it worse, especially for those of us who are attending for the topic of the movie. Then again, if I think back to my teenage days (which is hard to do at my age) taking your girlfriend to a war movie was always a challenge. Maybe they are just trying to make it easier on us in that regard.

That's negatives WAVES, not vibes.  And if YOU would have knocked it off with them negative waves, then that bridge would still be there!
