Easy fix for the supply issues in Burma...

I may incorporate it into my mod...as I sort of have already done in China

Dotbases in just about every hex ....coupled with the SUPPLY MAX and Monsoon feature ...with low settings of maybe 10 or 20 in the new dotbases...supply flow in the area will slow to a crawl...

Of course it "might" present issues for the AI ...then again it might not.

When I read about your proposed dot base idea in your post in the Design and Mod Forum, I was wondering to myself "Why would he do that?" Odd that my own question over here brought the answer to my question. The AI question is interesting. Would the AI be bothered by the dot bases if the main bases like Mandalay, etc remained unchanged? I really think this idea has merit until a patch resolves the supply issues (if that is even on the table).

The more I think about this the more I like it...and plan on adding it to my mod.

Here is the initial plan:

1. Add a dotbase in every hex along the Burma-India frontier...
2. Add a dotbase to most hexes in Burma on or near any likely avenue of advance.
3. Add a dotbase to most hexes in Assam India.
4. Add dotbases along the Thai- Burma frontier especially on or adjacent to the roads crossing the borders.
5. Set the Supply CAPs in the new bases to various values based on historical reference to potential supply avenues...ie minor roads not represented on Map. I have good data on Allied supply thruput in the region. Most of the new bases however will see CAPS around 10 or 20
6. Set the bases to Monsoon.

The effect - most hexes in Burma will now have a "base" with a supply CAP. As most units will now be in hexes that contain "bases", that will prevent massive supply flow to units not in bases.

As far as the AI - the AI is scripted to attack and defend particular bases...if a base is not in the script it may be bypassed and not attacked. However this may not be as problematic as it sounds due to the base "auto-switch" feature....which did present problems in my China changes which were solved.

I suspect a lot of Allied players divert units from obvious death traps early in the war and send them to India. I have to believe that this plays a major part in some of the Burma problems for the JFB.

That is part of the 20:20 hindsight inherent in all wargames.
