Anybody have good knowledge of Dutch sub operations in the Pacific after the fall of Java? Where did they operate from. How large were their torpedo stockpiles? I recall a note in Blair's Silent Victory about an attempt to convert one of the boats to MK14s.

thanks.

Thanks Anarchyintheuk.

In a quick review of the site, I found that 0 19 was operating out of freemantle in Dec of 44. She was on a minelaying mission, but had torps and shot 3 at a Japanese AK.

Still wondering where they were getting torps to fit their tubes.

Here's another site that points to the specific sub information on the dutchsubmarines website.

I know they used the Britisch mark IV but not without problems , also the use of whitehead(spelling) on one of O24 patrols is mentioned .
Most of the older boats , specialy later in the war ,where used for ASW training if not in dock for repair which was frequently the case.
Most operated first out of Colombo , later Freemantle, other went to the atlantic or med after repairs and returnd to the east later in the war .
Repairs took long and whre troublesome due to the differant equipment used on Dutch subs.
Some got replaced by Britisch subs with Dutch crews like the T-class , Zwaardvisch which torpedoed the U168 in the Java sea on Oct. 5th 1944.
