Just thought I'd post that if you're running NIS 2010 and haven't been getting any Pulse updates or updates when clicking Run Live Update the past few hours, there seems to be problem at Symantec.

It's taken almost a day to work this out but there's some chatter about it on the Symantec forums.

The last version of updates you should have is 17.5.0.127. You can download this from Symantec's download website if not.

It's taken 13 hours and a 2 hour marathon stint with the Symantec Research team on the phone at the end but NIS 2010 is now Pulsing and updating again.

Very competent guy I got to speak to in reasearch. Turned out to be a server issue they'd never experienced before.

(Tip: When you get the first techie on the phone, oblige them - they'll ask you to uninstall NIS for some stupid reason and then ask for the supervisor. Oblige that person - who'll want to go into Documents and Settings - and then you'll slowly climb the problem solving ladder. I reached lofty heights and not once did I let a single person remote control my PC!)

Yeah their customer service is pretty good IMO. Had an issue or two, in all the years that I used Norton products (since Win 95 actually), and they were all solved fine.
Good customer service is remembered... bad service too. So yeah, all in all.. I'm convinced they produce a fine product, not 100%, but it's easy to use... and reasonably safe.

I've used Norton since about 2000, never had a single problem with it.

Me too. I have never had a single issue with it. There are some features that I'm not very fond of like Sonar, but besides that really never had a problem. Doesn't mean others haven't experienced something, but so far I have had good luck:)
