I have a question about this new "max supplies" thingy. When a base has max supplies listed (such as Darwin and some of the other Northern Australian bases) does this mean I cannot have more than that amount of supply there? Or that it will not draw more than that amount of supply. In other words, can I as a player dump more supply into a base than "max supplies"? (say, for instance, through seaborne transport) If I do dump more into a base than max supplies, does this mean the excess amount is lost?

What is the full story on this max supplies thing? It has obviously been designed to effect the game for Burma and No. Oz, but I am unclear as the to full extent of how this feature works.

It's the spoilage number. Over that figure the supplies will be subject to losses each turn. Exactly how much is in the manual, I can't remember.

I am not talking about spoilage. Start a game under patch 2 or later. Look at Darwin. Note on the left side of the base display there is a field called "max supplies". This has nothing to do with spoilage, which happens when supplies exceed the max storage listed in the upper right.

you can only draw the amount listed from other bases in range per day - total. You can dump as much as you want via TF which in Darwins' case is the whole point.

OK, thanks for the answer. So that number is the max draw per day. So over time, you can accumulate more. Cool.

What Capt Cruft is talking about is the "Supply Limit" number on the middle right hand side of the base screen. Cap and Gown is talking about the (max####) parenthetical number on the left next to the "Supplies" listing on the left side of the base screen.

BigJ62, thanks for that post. I wasn't sure if that was the max daily draw overland or the max total draw overland. Now I am informed.

And that number can be changed. Some bases have a base number defined in the editor and that is multiplied by the sum of the port, airfield, and fortifications ( I think that is right ). Darwin has a base of 300.

it is max draw x (port + af + forts) and during monsoon / 2 = what is displayed on screen. The monsoon thing (may 15 to oct 15) is only for bases that have max draw.

The monsoon thing (may 15 to oct 15) is only for bases that have max draw. and if monsoon effect is checked off in the editor for that base so it depends on the oober designer.

Do bases with "max supplies" flag draw resources/fuel/oil overland at normal rate or is their number reduced as well?

AFAIK "max supplies" only affects supply.

There is a limit to the supply that can flow up the road from central and south OZ to Northern OZ-regardless of the season. This I believe is hard coded in. Send a large army overland to North Oz and they will start to go hungry unless you can run supply in through Darwin. So kicking a strong Japanese force out of Darwin can be very hard unless you command the seas.
