Imperial Sons (Good guys--AdmNelson and fabertong) vs ----- Cap Mandrake and sprior( the other guys)

12/28/41

Some catching up here

Makin, Tarawa,---IJN
Madang, Kaving,Shortlands--IJN
Rabaul--144th plus 5th baseforce have reduced fort level to zero

Phillippines--US held in Luzon at this time is Clark,Manila, Bataan, and Iba( which will fall next turn)

Palembang and Singkawang are in Japanese hands
Manado and Kendari are in Japanese hands

First carriers battles are the Taiyo and Ryujo east of Kendari facing off against the USN battle groups of the Lexington and Enterprise

It did not go well for IJN carriers-- but IJN land base air from Manado found the Lexington and has put three torpedos into the ship.

I will be more aggressive with updating this AAR in the future

Through a tragic malaprop, Seaman Maldonado of number 2 mount (**censored**) is about to become the first casualty of the Second Battle of the Banda Sea. He has raced aft as instructed with his awkward load. He flies down a ladder, lands heavily and pitches forward. 12 inches of tempered steel pierces his right hand. The remainder of the George Foreman Party Grill and Rotiserie is distrubted randomly in the passageway.

Agreed --- But if the other side is using George Foreman shellls as loads for their guns we might and that is a mighty big but --- we may win.

How do you load a rotiserie in a 5" gun? And why is it 12" tempered steel?

The Imperial Travel Office-- ---"The one and only one used by the Imperials Sons"

Message to the fine and outstanding officers, naval, air, seamen, anti-rotiserie gun crews, cook of the IJN ships Taiyo and Ryujo:

" A few items were left off in loading at the travel office-- extra bags of rice, 30' diameter nets for the A-R gun crews, and shark repellent, instead it would seam that extra shark attractors were loaded instead. Please don't go swiming unless it is necessary."

END OF MESSAGE

Careful Admiral, they're actually using ill-tempered steel.

Your aggressiveness with your carriers is complete. In the confines of the Celebes sea so close to enemy land based bombers ! WOW!

If you put two CVL's on the bottom, a few months in drydock for the Lady Lex is more than a fair swap. Bull Halsey is a wimp compared to you!

Drive on!

Combined Fleet: Dec 27th 1941 to Imperial Travel Office
RE: Speed estimate in warp speed of USN Enterprise

USN Enterprise was engaged in the Banda Sea on Dec27 last know position was Pearl Harbor( before the war). Need to know the speed of said carrier. Please define warp speed with estimate. SAA command interecepted a communication a few days earlier which we believe was from the USN Enterprise-- " Scottie we need more warp speed!". It is important that Combined Fleet receives this estimates soon.

Imperial Travel Office ---"The one and only one used by the Imperials Sons" --- Special Branch:
To Combined Fleet
RE: Esimate of speed of USN Enterprise

Warp speed in how many parspec that be traveled in a given time
The length of a parsec is about 30.857 petametres. We suggest that you just consult your Wikipedia.

Combined Fleet:
What would the warp speed of the IJN Akagi be compared to the USN Enterprise, and we would want this conversion to be in miles per hex.

Imperial Travel Office------"The one and only one used by the Imperials Sons"-- Special Branch
To Combined Fleet

Conversion rate varies in regards to television shows and science fiction novels- If your true question is can the IJN Akagi arrive in time to save the IJN Taiyo and INJ Ryujo -- The answer lies with author.
Short answer follows
"WE SUGGEST THAT YOU STORE EXTRA SHARK REPELLENT FOR YOUR SHIPS IN THE BANDA SEA"

If there is not any more questions-- end of communication -- this office is closed tomorrow and all communications will need to sent to the following

Imperial Travel Office----"The one and only one used by the Imperial Sons" -- Voice Messaging Branch

"Sir"

"yes, Lieutenant"

"a communcation from the Imperial Travel Office---- "The one and only one used by the Imperial Sons" that faberatong has engaged in combat"

"Lieutenant, why do you do that?"

"What sir"

"Imperial Travel Office--- "The one and one used by the Imperial Sons" it is just Imperial Travel Office-- enough of that. Send message to the Akagi to alert the special A-R gun crews"

"Sir, again what is a A-R gun?"

"A-R stands for anti-rotiserie-- Lieutenant have you forgotten we got a messaage earlier mentioning 12" tempered steel and George Foreman- Americans are aware that we name guns after things we can eat with. - Same as we are aware that the American's name their POM POM guns for the same reason--- just send the message"

"Yes Sir-- by the way Sir you can run the combat at the same time too, your are in 2x2 game"

"Yes, Lieuetant that did skip my memory-- thank you"

Cap Mandrake will be splashing the AAR with some very fine commentary after he quits chewing his fingers.

Did someone make the comment:

A dejected Admiral stands over the situtaion war room table( computer screen) with its many different colored symbols wondering the questions that has plagued mankinkind for eons.

One --Why does a my carrier look so big when an enemy sub is firing a torpedo at it?
Two-- Why did I ever think that was a good idea?

After many smashings of the forehead against the wall, an inspiration came to light.
Why ,because I am a JFB. Still don't the answer to the first question.. .....

Finally in the new light --- The Admiral called across the house... Honey I am going to take the dog for another walk.

Problem solved.

Authors note after walking thru the snow again-- The Admiral has a new plan.

Dinner -- California style?

What we don't want in the plan is to have to "walk the dog" as part of it.

Well the plan is guarded by an Army of flightlees birds, and will be revealed as soon as possible.

UHHH.

Heavy blow. You really need to play 3 carriers vs his 2 rule of thumb. To be even.
2 : 1 to be victorious. In carrier to carrier rumble.

So, You can not afford to split KB before you will send at least 2 of his carriers home for a serious damage management.

I am so sorry.

Press on, all You need is to take all of those small and unimportant bases. Hundreds of them.
I am dead serious.

It looks like Akagi is lost. Damn.

Thanks for the input

When I decided to split the KB and send the Akagi and Kaga west, they were to join up with Ryjuo and Taiyo. At that time I felt the American carriers were either in Suva or east OZ. Never dreamed that in 21 days they would be at Darwin. After the Lexington took three torpedos I had a 2-1 carrier adv. I just missed up.

Akagi has a chance but slim.

Akagi is still limping away. Can she be saved? Time will tell. As for the Lexington is the chart of air losses an indicator that maybe the Lexington is sunk. This turn it shows heavy losses of USN carrier air groups on the ground or is FOG?

I thought air groups will desert a carrier if it's very damaged, even if it's not yet in danger of really sinking.

Air losses register tends to be far more accurate than ship losses early on. Its a pretty good sign you got one.

That would be good

On another Front--- fabertong is making the first landings in Java. Update soon on this. Most of the allies surface fleets we believe are near the Banda Sea.
