Missed this question. Sorry. Ships (as in post above) are hexes vital for access between ports or sea areas in the fleet display. Hexes with dollar signs are either "ports", i.e, departure/arrival places, for Axis overland trade of PP's, or hexes that has to be occupid in order for this trade to work. Germany can trade with Italy only if Innsbruck is Axis, and with the Balkan countries (except Hungary) only if Nis is Axis held. "Ports" need to be controlled in the sending as well as recieving country. Oil barrels points towards heavy oil deposit sites. These are normal resource hexes, often with a high value, marked only for historical significance. Some of these hexes contain part of the German or British economy, however, and are important places for these countries. These hexes are marked by the country's national flag.
