WITP Staff Hotfix - 7/27/2009 4:02:03 PM

Status: offline 		After Gold, a last minute issue was discovered with part of the WITP Staff installation. This is a separate out of game tool that gives the player additional information and data management regarding various aspects of the game.

In order to fix this issue (the fix will also be included in the first update) download the attached zip file and unzip the DLL file inside it to your Admiral's Edition installation folder in the \Tools\WitpStaff\ sub-folder. It should overwrite the DLL file that's already there.

Also, note that the same folder contains some PDF documentation on how to use WITP Staff.

Finally, some users with x64 Vista have to click the witpdecoder2.jar file in the tools/witpstaff folder to get the program to run.

While WITP Staff is not officially supported, it's a very useful tool and we'd like to thank M. Baumeister (Woos) for working with us during development to allow it to support WITP AE through all the changes and revisions, which required plenty of ongoing work and adjustments.

Status: offline 		Eric-I DLed the fix, got it into tools\witpstaff folder & tried to unzip.

Computer told me it couldn't open a dll file & tried to send me off on a wild goose chase with Microsoft.

Any ideas?

Status: offline 		If unzipping didn't work, get an unzip programm (e.g. 7zip which is free).
If unzipping did work but the situation hasn't changed to before, all people who had that situation before unzipped into the wrong directory.

Status: offline 		I downloaded this hotfix for WitP Staff.

1) My version of AE does not have a Tools/WitpStaff folder (or even a Tools folder). I created one and put the dll into it.

2) What now? I have documentation and a new folder/subfolder/.dll

Where's the staff?

Status: offline 		I just installed AE, the original WitPStaff that came with the game, when i launched WitPStaff and got the the part where I loaded the save, the jar window just close by itself.

After I did the dll patch listed in this thread above, I got the error message:

Any idea where I went wrong?

I think there is an issue at present with new games see here

The solution I suggest is patching witp-ae to before the beta, initialising Staff, and then upgrading to the Beta or patch 2 therafter
