janan's sub minelayers

Post by borner »

trying Japan for once in a couple games. Have noticed that they have 2-3 subs that can carry far more mines than usual. However, I never can seem to figure out how to have them leave with a full load of mines. How does this work? I am sure I am missing something simple.

I have noticed that you have to change the mission after subs leave Truk, or at least after replenishing. Replenish subs when they have sub patrol mission, and then change it to sub minelaying. That should work.

That make sense, right? [&:]

its a bit more complex then that:

Minelaying subs or minelayers can only load sub in:

*a big port (size 9, only Truk normally)
*a port with a MLE type ship (if you would be so lucky to get one)

You should create the TF as a Sub minelaying, and then add the subs from port to it.

This is not WitP. From UV manual p 48: Mine layers and submarines may only rearm mines at Noumea and Truk. I think MLE ships don't exist in this game.

The problem I have with those japanese minelaying subs is that if I add them to Sub minelaying TF, they don't load mines (except some to torpedo tubes). So if I want full mine load, I have to create sub patrol TF, and then change it to sub minelaying TF...

I guess borner have the same problem.

I checked it. If I create sub minelaying TF, I-121 loads only a few mines and torpedo load is reduced.

very strange. create the minelaying TF. then go to sub partol. I guess then back to sub ML so they will lay the mines. I will have to try that. thank you very much for the information!
