How does the PBEM system work in this game?

Any chance for an integrated SMTP mailer, for example?

Is it strictly 2 player, or can you have multiple human players controlling different countries, or sets of countries?

Can a dev talk a little bit about how the actual mechanics of PBEM play will work, file sending, file size, order, any anti-cheating mechanics?

From what I hear it will be possible to play multi-player PBEM (as was already the case in the predecessor game "Road to Victory").

Well, we're up to 4 players now, but the developers are in final revision mode and keep changing the code on us. I can tell you that it seems to work.
As far as protection from cheats, the best I've ever heard of is called "honor." Why would you waste a month associating with the kind of low life that would cheat on a war game? Besides, that's what this board is for.

Good, that is by far the best answer there is for anti-cheating in a wargame. Don't waste cycles trying to stop cheaters from being cheaters, they will just figure out some other way to cheat anyway.

A really simple way to check for cheating is to count the number of times a save point is reloaded after a move had been made

I could spec out what I mean if anyone cared but I think picking quality opponents is probably a better way to go.

Pretty everything has been already told.

PBEM has got no implemented anti cheat mechanism. Similar to what has been said I think that the best thing is honesty. Every software can be hacked, but nobody can hack your word of honor. Another thing is that kind of solution allows you to modify save game.

In PBEM game can play up to six players. Any combintaion of countries is possible, so one can take Allies, another can take Germany only, somebody can play Middle East countries, etc.
Also it's worth to mention that solo game can be played as hotseat.
