USS Monssen:

"Passing guard mail to USS Enterprise (CV-6), during operations in the south Pacific, 19 May 1942. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, from the collections of the Naval Historical Center."

And yes, I Googled it.

Now that is an aesthetically pleasing ship!

ADDIT: Question: is there some kinda standard device onboard ships, like a little catapult or something for launching a line between two vessels like that? Or would they just throw it!?

Don't know about back in WWII, but these days, the Navy uses big "cork guns", air guns with a big cork type plug tied to a thin string that they fire across from one ship to the other. Use the thin string to pull across a light line, use that to pull across a heavy line, use that to pull across a cable to run the pully's on. Watched it many times and always enjoyed the show.

And that is the only reason that I got it right, for the first time. A milestone for me, even though I cheated.

USS Monssen, it is

USS Enterprise, it is

SBD, it is

..........

I am not shure which model of SBD it is, but the "-3" is a good gues imo, as to the first plane, (the second being the SBD), I think judging by the shape of the Tail it is another SBD.

Naw, I could do this foreaver I think, it's a cool pick, and theirs other stuff in it besides the USS Monssen, like the SBD. The Intent is for folks to be able to get them anyway. The bummer is I have a ton of realy cool picks that I cant realy use, theirs nothing to get in them.

You clearly have a bunch of fans on this forum who enjoy guessing these. If you have the time, and do not mind, I bet there is a lot of us that would enjoy looking at a batch of your pics regardless of having definitive descriptions or not.

Fascinating. So what occupational specialist(s) on the ship take care of a job like that?

You know one thing I wish WiTP had was ship crews. I mean we got all these squads of different land units, and we got pilots, why not ship crews? It would be cool to have to get a new radio shack crew out to Rabaul cause CV Enterprise lost a bunch of men in a recent air strike and the guys running the radio(s) are not primary trained for that role . . . Ah well, maybe in the AE Uber-Detail Mod?? (in which BTW, we need to have medical/personnel supplies, building supplies, military supplies, aviation supplies, and naval supplies distinguished!)
