Seconded. A seriously fun game and an absolute steal at the price. I just hope they do a Windows Mobile version.

Great choice, it's a very well done game.

The latest version has 3 lousy campaigns of 3 scenerios each. They just can't be bothered to make more. The first game had a great campaign. The second less, and the third is the worst.I think I played the whole game in an hour or two, what a ripoff. Get ready to fire up a Matrix game, because this latest version won't get you through the weekend.IMHO
thanks

Yeah, you have to click on the link to see what he really meant. I wouldn't have endorsed Company of Heroes to that degree - it's fun, but it wears out quickly.

Hrmm, I didn't like Conflict o.H. all that much. Not nearly as much as I liked Combat Commander.

Care to expand on that? Curious because I've been looking at both.

Not that I need another squad level game as I'm hip deep in Band of Heroes and all the expansions...

Gawd...don't give me another game to get!!

I often look at the Band of Heroes games. Lock n Load also do the World At War series which I like the look of.

Wasn't CoH the game where you have to build units or buildings, sorta like Command & Conquer? I didn't like that.

Yes, Company of Heroes was...but I wasn't talking about that (even though it's what I originally posted...easy mistake and one I make quite often!). Click the link I supplied and all will be clear.

LnL also just yesterday announced Heroes of the Gap, squad level combat based in the world of the WaW series... 1985 WWIII!! Looks really sweet!

LOL! I've still to buy "BoH Noville" and "W@W Blood and Bridges" like I said I would do this year. They both look (and feel in weight - oh I've held 'em) quality products.

Instead I've bought: "Ticket to Ride", "Pandemic" and "Small World"! Am I turning into a non-wargamer?

Actually I was a little disappointed with Lock n' Load (the company) recently. I bought the re-print of "Totensonntag" and Mark had forgotten to fix a well-known counter errata. Shame, as the game looks great but it just cooled me off LnL for now, though Mark was great about it when I pointed it out.

Ah I still think I'm a wargamer. I also bought some "Memoir 44" stuff

CoH (Company of Heroes) is a lot of fun as an internet game with two teams of two or three players.

I have not played Conflict of Heroes.

I played some of the demo, but isn't it kind of a clickfest game?!

It's a casual, tower-defense-esque game... if that's what you mean. There is a lot of clicking involved... but I hate that pejorative term.

Read my review of Plants vs. Zombies at Wargamer.com.

It's the 'clickfest' game for people who don't like clickfest games. And indeed those who do. Not to be confused with most games to which that label has been applied, though.

The mechanics of CC are new and different. I got the feeling that Conflict o.H was just more of the same. Also, the print quality of the counters was very poor, causing me eyestrain.

Both games were smooth playing. I think most people who play ASL, (or any of it's spinoffs) would drop it for CC if they gave it a chance.

I read your review and you did a wonderful job! Better than I ever could. I see your points and they are very well made. However it's just not my kind of game. I wish it were as I am looking for a new inexpensive game this weekend. Thanks for your posts.

I think the art and quality of the Conflict of Heroes boardgame are excellent. I have no gripes what-so-ever with quality.

The rules are conplex enough to satisfy but not too much to overwhelm.

I just re-read the rules this afternoon and played (solo) the first scenario. Took me ages (I was referring to the rule book in between) and it's only 5 turns. I haven't even gotten on to cards/armour/arty/smoke etc and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Can't wait till tomorrow. I'll play the same scenario to "reinforce" the rules though.
