This was always one of my favourite planes when I was a kid, but WITP does not seem to like it so much..

Mohawk IV in India, probably mid-late 42 from the roundels. The red was removed from most Mohawks around Jan 43 iirc.  Either 5 or 155 Sqn, I'm going with 5 Sqn.

What do you mean "WitP doesn't seem to like it much"?

And I'll go with 155 Squadron, Alipore, October or November 1942.

The info I got was closest to Dixie's answer, but labelled January '43..(5 or 155 RAF squadron, but the Indian AF also had them..

IMHO WITP users tend to not like them and prefer to retire them early, whereas the did shoulder on till later in the war and were very useful ground support and interception role against Nate's and the like..

This one was ser#BB977..

That shot really looks like it's from the set of a movie, on a sound stage.

Most of the RAF pilots that flew them quite liked them and felt that the Mohawk could out-turn an Oscar if they kept their speed up. Obviously the RAF didn't rate the type else they never would have ended up in India

No Indian Air Force squadrons flew the Mohawk. They started out with Audaxes, Wapitis and Lysanders, and ended up with Hurricanes, Vengeances and Spitfires.

In these shots the Mohawk looks sort of like a cross between a Buffalo and a Thunderbolt. Handsome airplane.

This is where I got the idea the Indians themselves had the P 36

Apparently it was used in the training role.
