I hope so; I don't really want to know that an entire TF of warships is "maneuvering well" 30 different times during one engagement.

BTW, will there be more 'fog of war' type reports from the battles?  IOW, will we get wrong information about the amount of damage done to the other side's ships?

Hi,

Can anyone in the Naval Team confirm or deny whether subs can launch a partial salvo against ships now or do they still always fire a full salvo every time?

Thanks,

Steven

I think they can, I think I have seen Combat Reports from AE posted here that shows like:

"USS/IJN XXX launches X torpedoes". Which would indicate less than full salvo. Probably would be related to hits achieved.

Not really big issue for me, but intriguing.

If you look up the data for those sub classes you will realize that "X" for them equals "number of torpedo tubes". So, they fire full salvoes.

Thanks. And am I right in thinking it was originally planned/talked about that subs could fire partial salvoes?

It wasn't planned to be put in the game, but rather one of the 300 or so items that didn't make the list of changes.

Does it seem like the fighters have been nerfed? I noticed several attacks by unescorted bombers where there were few kills and a lot of damaged planes. It didn't seem to matter what kind of fighter was intercepting either (Hurricane vs Thunderbolt). In 1943, the pilots should have good experience.

No "nerfing" per se, but air combat is a lot less bloody than in stock.

Interesting. I think less bloody is good, but there ought to be some serious losses with unescorted bombers, especially Japanese bombers. P38's and P47's should take a heavy toll.

OK before everyone gets to excited remember this is a test script an Invasion of Australia will be very unlikely in th erelease version its just to big a waste of resources for the AI

It would be nice if this script could be implemented on a conditional basis. In other words if the Japanese AI checked victory point totals on 'x' date and was 'y' far ahead of the allies, then script invasion OZ gets implemented.

Of course 'y' would have to be a very large number, but it would be nice if it could somehow be done.

Jim

Yes the player always gets better utility out of PDU than the AI

Hi Andy,
maybe you could clarify the difference to me, if you do not mind ?

Let's see:
- PDU on meaning : Jap changing all production as he prefers (incl. change to -rd)
both change aircraft typ and role of every squadron
- PDU of meaning : Jap may change their production between already developt
aircraft and only increase -rd factories
both follow definde upgrade paths (with some exceptions)

Am I'm right or did I get it totaly wrong ?

And again many thanks to all of the team !

Regards
Rene'

PDU in that a Japanese player with control of factories will streamline more AI will not do this.

PDU is more flexible for players because of things like upgrades the AI will follow its defined upgrade path even if PDU on it has no choice

A player will mix and match depending on availability and quality

So if a Jap sqn gores from Nate to Frank as some sqns do because thats what they historically did

Bypassing Oscars and Tonies thats what the AI will do it will operate that sqn with Nates until Franks become available

A player would change them to more usefull types in advance of the Frank and so get more utility out of the sqn

The AI will not do that hence its better to play PDU off if playing v the AI (or find some nice soul to once every 6 months fire up your v the AI game step in as the other side and change the upgrades manually of all obsolete sqns for the AI !!!)
