Had time to have a long look at that map.

I've found an error in the factory wall element (used very rarely in WaR)... thank you stalky for helping here.

Also errors in the way that map has been coded.

I'm working on a fix.

I'm quite happy keeping the Factory wall element as a flimsy element... we have more heavier duty elements that can be used when appropriate.

See the building a little further south of that "factory" and this factory is coded with stone walls.

Also the "Factory" in question is coded with Factory floor element allowing vehicles to traverse it... only problem if the AI sets up in there , there is no way out... I'm changing the coding of the floor so vehicles won't/can't set up in there.

Stay tuned... I might have to post this as an optional update for users.... until we can make a new patch worthwhile.

Thanks for the time/help Andrew.
Any chance of maybe getting new.ovm's for WAR?
I now it probably sounds like another worthless favor,
If not I might be able to have them all done in a few months.Should anyone else like this view.
This is the ingame view.

The patch should make so: " AT gun crews now less likely to engage non-vehicle targets when under a DEFEND order. "
Unfortunately after patch AT gun crews shoot on infantry under own initiative from significant distance (more than 100 meters). And it conducts to early detection ÀÒ guns.
P.S. A patch as a whole excellent

For anyone who is interested I have 35 new .ovm's that display the trees on them.
I just need a place to upload it.
File is currently at 167MB zipped.

Edit:
Any idea on the eta for the new workbook for WAR?
thanks

Just thought I would check and see what the status is on fixing the elements?

I have been playing the CC series as a whole for a long time. I generally like WaR, but I (along with two of my friends locally within my area) have totally stopped playing this game due to the faulty LOS's and gone back to playing modded CC5.

The LOS as well as the strange strat map connections are the reason that I don't play it anymore. Would be fine to receive an update on the situation.

For anyone interested I have completed putting all the trees on the .ovm's for WAR.
You can download them here.
http://www.closecombatseries.net/platoon_michael/WAR%20Files/

Besure to back up all files first just incase you dont like them.
Most maps look pretty good with them.

Edit:
Sorry,
I had a graphic mistake on the Assenios and Butgenbac files.
Reiploading now.
Heaven forbid I made any others but if you see any let me know and I'll fix it.

Just to clarify Michael, you say "putting all the trees" on them, but I get the impression from the image you posted that what you have done is to make heights more visible on the map?

Is that pretty much what you've done? Changed how the maps look so that heights are more clear without the numbers clicked?

No I did not change how the heights are viewed on the .ovm’s.
I wish I had some idea as “how to” as using the .ovm is very important during Battles and initial set up.All I did was add the Tree images so that one can now see exactly what is on said map.A right click feature would have been nice but has never been an option for any of the CC series.
Originally all the WAR .ovm's showed was Tree shadows or not Tree shadows.(yea that was a poke)
If it does provide any type of elevation it would purely be an optical illusion.

Edit:
The .ovm's have always been pretty much ignored when it comes to CC inmho they should show Elevation,be able to use the voice box of soldiers and show deployment when mousing over exit VL's.And allow one to use support when viewing them.
Why it doesnt I have no idea, thats just the way it's always been

So there will be an update with fixed LOS too Andrew ? Of course where possible
And maybe rechecked strat map for map connection issues ? I mean where you can clearly see a road connection between 2 maps on the sratmap but you have to choose a different way to reach the map.

All map coding is being reviewed... as are most aspects of WaR.

Thanks very much Andrew.

Now maybe it's the Longest day for me waiting ... ... for the rerelease of CC 5 today. Thanks for doing the rereleases. It will not bring to much new users but to be able to use my favorite CC ones with vista is great as well as the on going support. And according to the info I'm awaiting how the team will do CC2

just thought I would check and see how the map/LOS/coding update for WaR is progressing.

The post above looks like a night turn for WaR,  is that being included in the update as well? Just curious what else the update may include

Sure does look like it's getting pretty slow and boring around here lately, and why is it stolidog's post constantly get ignored?

Looking at the flair there sure does seem to me it doesnt provide much on a winter map compaired to the ones posted for TLD,granted Snow creates an abundance of reflection but shouldnt any of the forrests be much darker?

Probably a lot of the people play WAR or TLD. The patch looks to be adding some TLD functionality so I would not expect the WAR patch until after the TLD patch is finalized....

Currently uploading an update to the .ovm's (give it about an hour to finish uploading.)
File size is 310MB once it's done.

3 maybe 4 maps needed an update so I just went ahead and corrected the whole download rather than uploading just the corrected .ovm's

enjoy and sorry for the re-download

Would be nice to see the FP's a little more even.
Comming across BG's like this towards the end of the Counter Offensive GC is kinda boring.

Any chance of adding the BG Info to the Strategic map?

Just like the one viewed on the Scenario Editor screen.
