Line of site vs hills

Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge is a turn-based strategy that puts you command of a squad of specialists for hire in the genre’s biggest game-world yet: the African country Diamond Coast. Diamond Coast is a playground for the cruel and corrupt, each with their own agenda. Choose your friends wisely and buy an army of ruthless mercenaries to unleash mayhem on your foes. Choose “jobs” from different factions and complete them for cash to upgrade your weapons and hire more elite soldiers of fortune.

Line of site vs hills

Post by nbk_redspy »

Is there any way to tell what your real line of site is? Maybe like the colored view overlay or first person view like in Brigade E5? I find that when I have a guy on a hill it is nearly impossible for me to tell that I have to aim for the head or else it is hitting all dirt.

Sorry, there isn't. It's one of the major flaws in the design of this game.

I would think that was part of the reason behind the camera not going down to shoulder level, you would then see close to what the Trooper should see

I can understand a programmer who never fired a weapon, or had any training in this kind of stuff, not knowing how it is done, but a programmer who has never been in the woods ? or stood on a hill, who has never looked out of a building window ?

come on

These particular Russians must lead very sheltered lives.

it looks like there is something wrong with firing on targets at a different level

last battle, had two cripples run to a bridge, they standing on it and my Sniper (95 ACC) standing on the road, fired off a 20 round clip and couldn't hit them (looked like 40-50 feet away) then move Dragon up close, about 20 feet away, and he couldn't hit them either

I have noticed that someone standing on a tower is HARD to hit

I've found the Coastal Fortress sector to be the most frustrating for LOS issues. But funny, I didn't have any problems hitting the soldier up in the guard tower. In fact, after getting hit twice, he bailed out and climbed down. The AI is sometimes very impressive in this game!

there is info in the mod area (or is that the war room ?) about making changes to the FOV, it works good, but I tend to go under ground, so went back to stock

but that was nice, you could look right over the guys shoulder, and you can see what was a clean shot and what may be blocked and or why

most of the maps have a lot of little dips in them
