Why does the closing of the Suez Canal (Axis forces take it and control Port Said) prevent the use of the West Africa route. I sent a UK fleet to the Red Sea when Port Said was about to fall assuming they could 'escape' to the Atlantic via Africa. When Port Said was taken they became stranded in the Red Sea.
