A "Baiting" AI??

Commander – Europe at War Gold is the first in a series of high level turn based strategy games. The first game spans WW2, allowing players to control the axis or allied forces through the entire war in the European Theatre.

Is it just me or does anybody notice that the predicted damage ratings the computer gives you totally lie? Like when fighting on the East Front - I'll be thinking about attacking some russian infantry and it will say "5:2" - then I proceed with the attack and it will practically always end up being "2:5" - @#$%^!!! I've done a lot of that in this game. I can't afford to take losses like that on the East Front with just a dribble of oil. Is the AI programmed to increase your losses if you are doing well? I know some games have that.

5:2 means the attacker has advantage so mean the defender should take higher casualties. The odds is not a casualty estimator but rather a "strength ratio". Some battles contain sequences with shock and other that mean a even odds actually could favour normally the defender but sometimes even the attacker.

The AI uses the same rules for combat as players.

If you scroll down there are links to documents that explain the combat system in detail. I agree the odds indicator is incredibly frustrating, especially when you come from PG2 which is much closer to the actual result.
