In the "Spirit" of the season

All For Me Grog

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

I'm sick in the head and I haven't been to bed
Since first I came ashore with me plunder
I've seen centipedes and snakes and me head is full of aches
And I have to take a path for way out yonder

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

Where are me boots, me noggin', noggin' boots
They're all sold for beer and tobacco
See the soles they were thin and the uppers were lettin' in
And the heels were lookin' out for better weather

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

Where is me shirt, me noggin', noggin' shirt
It's all sold for beer and tobacco
You see the sleeves were all worn out and the collar been torn about
And the tail was lookin' out for better weather

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

Where is me wife, me noggin', noggin' wife
She's all sold for beer and tobacco
You see her front it was worn out and her tail I kicked about
And I'm sure she's lookin' out for better weather

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

Where is me bed, me noggin', noggin' bed
It's all sold for beer and tobacco
You see I sold it to the girls until the springs were all in twirls
And the sheets they're lookin' out for better weather

And it's all for me grog me jolly, jolly grog
All for my beer and tobacco
Well, I spent all me tin with the ladies drinkin' gin
Far across the Western Ocean I must wander

You can be old and not be a geezer. On the other hand , I know a lot of YOUNG geezers (some visit this thread regually). Geezer hood is a state of mind. Do you want to be a geezer? Do you like being a geezer? Then go ahead and embrace your inner geezer. Geezer hood is NOT automatic.

Oh yes, Terminus. I have been proudly and diligently working at all aspects of this for most of my 61 years.  The word most applied to me by co-workers and by family is CURMUDGEON (strongly related to "Geezer"). I choose to be the politely contrarian, all other things being equal. The Social Security check is just a milepost, but validation none the less, I think. I sure wish AE would appear, so I could stop thinking about stuff like this...

Regards,
Helldiver

No, you have to WORK at being a geezer.

You ain't clear on the concept, ozone destroyer breath. Geezerness is a state of mind in which the very idea of "work" is abhorrent. Of course, you always talk about how hard you worked all your life, and make up lies about what great things you did.

Someday, if you live long enough, punk (do ya feel lucky, punk?) you may wheeze your way into geezerhood. With your smart@$$ attitude, you even have the potential to mudgeon your cur, maybe.

Now, excuse me. I gotta get back over to the playground. It's almost recess time, and I don't wanna miss the little girls in their print dresses and white knee socks on the swingset....

I'm sorry, I should have said "nearly everybody has to work at being a geezer". You, having achieved Geezer Nirvana, obviously don't...

Manual transmissions are also anti-theft devices in the USA. Anyone youger than us does not know how to drive it.
So yeah , I want it. Keep the young punks from stealing my car , and it will make a fool out of them if they try!

I guess I qualify as a redneck geezer. My truck is doubly protected. Not only is it a manual transmission {I don't think they made automatic transmissions back then}, but it has a rifle rack in it.

Hmm, well I guess I was in denial, but yeah...I guess I've accepted being a geezer now. Of course that means all you young whipper-snappers don't know a thing and I'm ALWAYS right.

My old man had a thing for matters scatological:

"When yer over 60, never trust a fart."
"Don't look at it. If it didn't hurt ya where it was, it sure ain't gonna hurt ya now."
"Aaah. That was the second best feeling I'll have all day." (The best, of course, was crackin' that first Falstaff.)
"Ya know, I was afraid yer Ma's spaghetti and meatballs was gonna do that."
