I spoke with Scott and this will be a Joint AAR, I am here for the good of the Colonial efforts as having the allied powers control your oil, resources, food and woman is good for all of you because we said so!

Aside from that a little background, I started playing Witp about 2 years ago, since then completed one full campaign vs Jutland13 and he kicked me literally across the pacific till mid 43 when shear weigth of allied ships, planes and manpower overwhelmed him at a critical point, till then he completely thwarted and had me cowering like a little baby. I have also played several other people with those campaigns ending always in early to late 42 with either dissaperance or in one case capitulation when my chinese forces overwhelmed the Japanes. Since then I have not played Witp for about 1 year till a month ago Jutland and I started a 44 campaign to get tuned up for the rematch in AE when I will be japan. The tuneup was defiantly needed as I even forgot how to move ships from port [&:]. Needless to say I am past those times and ready to take on Scott who promises many surprises.

I had just loaded CHS about 30 minutes prior to scott sending me the turn so its pretty much new to me. In the initial move I only moved the 2 CV's at sea (with Scotts permission) and some chinese land units, but at the complexity of the Chinese theatre I figured lets get the ball rolling and sent the turn. What the heck a Samurai has to enjoy his first turn!

I don't play any special rules but try to play fair and reasonable, after all the colonial powers are in the right and will definatly win in the end.
Proposed house rules:-

1. Historical turn Off.

2. Air or ground units belonging to the Kwangtung command may not leave
Manchuria unless PP's are spent to change their command.

3. Only landings on Dot or base hexes

5. The Japanese are not allowed to enter the Panama and Aden passages. In
addition no Japanese units allowed within 4 hexes of the exits from the Aden
and Panama passages.

6. No cutting off retreat paths with a fragment, you must use a whole COMBAT
unit (a unit with at least 1 assault point).

7. PT Boats: PT boats can only be in a TF by themselves. Max 6 per group, Max 12 per port (seen to much abuse, but never experianced)

8. No more than 6 ships in an ASW TF.

9. No submarine Invasions.

Well I am starting to hear something behind me!!
Slowly I turn, Step by Step I walk to the peer, and what to my wondering Eyes appear!!
But white planes with Meatballs! Lunch must be here!

Let the games begin.
Showa rules!

Do not believe the Japanese propaganda! The war is already lost for the Samura and they know it!
The dutch struck the first blow on Dec 7th during the night when the spotted an invasion force heading past borneo
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 12/07/41
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack at 36,54

Japanese Ships
AP Koshu Maru #3, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage Sunk!

Allied Ships
SS KXIV

Japanese ground losses:
161 casualties reported

After that the cowardly Scott struck Pearl damaging many ships. As for Manila it also received a port strike putting 4 subs to the bottom quickly and damaging others, but the fleet is still deem operational[&o]

His propaganda about destroying over 200 planes is true, but these where lined up on the runways in neat order, not the tigers he soon will face.

There where no rules vs multiple port strikes, basically this will be a more wide open battle.

Here is a 2 day update
Phillipines
Scott struck the port causing 4 subs to immediately sink and numerous other ships to be damaged then he switched to Clark the second day.

As for Landings he has landed the 48th Div at Appari which it has secured and several other units along the northern area.
At Naga he landed the 16th and 4th Divisions, I believe he figured 2 divisions will rush Manila from the south with a quick grab! Unfortunatly on Dec 7th seeing the landing I rushed two phillipine divisions south and they arrived just in time to receive this attack on Dec 8th.

Ground combat at Naga
Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 11977 troops, 59 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 861

Defending force 10177 troops, 54 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 314

Japanese max assault: 182 - adjusted assault: 47 Definatly not ready to fight!

Allied max defense: 342 - adjusted defense: 813

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 3)

Japanese ground losses:
429 casualties reported
Guns lost 5

Allied ground losses:
97 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

His attack from the south will be delayed.

Also on Dec 7th the Zuiho and Ryuho sp? Were hunting to the east of Phillipines,
The Ryuho caught and sank the Houston on its way to attack ships landing troops at Daveo.

As to Borneo he made landings in the north at Miri, Brunei, Kutching and Tarakan, I cannot afford to lose Kutching and Tarakan so fast so I rushed the POW to Kutching and she arrived late on the 8th. To disperse the unprotected convoy, she will bombard on the 9th then continue her harassment of the Japanese aggressors!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Time Surface Combat, near Kuching at 27,56

Japanese Ships
AP Katori Maru, Shell hits 4, on fire, heavy damage
AP Mikage Maru #2, Shell hits 13, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

AK Meiu Maru, Shell hits 12, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk
AK Mexico Maru, Shell hits 5, on fire, heavy damage
AK Hokkai Maru, Shell hits 8, on fire, heavy damage
AK Meiten Maru, Shell hits 9, on fire, heavy damage
AK Hiyoshi Maru
AK Choko Maru, Shell hits 6, Torpedo hits 1, and is sunk

Allied Ships
BB Prince of Wales
CL Danae
DD Electra
DD Encounter
DD Express
DD Jupiter

Japanese ground losses:
93 casualties reported

Miri and Brunei fell, but Tarakan held as another fleet arrived to push off the transports!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day Time Surface Combat at 35,60

Japanese Ships
DD Ootori, Shell hits 11, and is sunk
DD Hayabusa, Shell hits 15, on fire, heavy damage Will Sink
AP Hikawa Maru, Shell hits 1, on fire
AP Yamato Maru
AP Kasuga Maru
AP Shoka Maru
AP Koan Maru

Allied Ships
CL Marblehead
DD Barker
DD Bulmer
DD Parrott
DD Stewart

Japanese ground losses:
11 casualties reported
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Tarakan
Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 6503 troops, 31 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 201

Defending force 1741 troops, 20 guns, 1 vehicles, Assault Value = 21

Japanese max assault: 129 - adjusted assault: 10

Allied max defense: 21 - adjusted defense: 13 Close!

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 2)

Japanese ground losses:
85 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

Allied ground losses:
82 casualties reported
Guns lost 2

At Rabaul he has also made a quick landing but we held the first assault, we will do our utmost to hold out longer here!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Rabaul

Japanese Deliberate attack

Attacking force 4226 troops, 16 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 118

Defending force 5009 troops, 40 guns, 2 vehicles, Assault Value = 36

Japanese max assault: 117 - adjusted assault: 25

Allied max defense: 37 - adjusted defense: 71

Japanese assault odds: 0 to 1 (fort level 3) [:-]

Japanese ground losses:
196 casualties reported
Guns lost 4

Allied ground losses:
76 casualties reported
Guns lost 3
Vehicles lost 1

Now that’s the good news, now the not so good
Kendari fell quickly I have never lost it this quick and theres a Base force so soon the area will be a Japanese aerial lake, Manado held a 2 to 1 attack but will also fall, it also appears he has a fleet headed to ambonia so the south may be closed quick.

The really bad news Canton has fallen, I split of a CA from a convoy and bombarded his troops at Canton but to no avail :0(, I have never lost Canton before.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Canton Island

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 1589 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 34

Defending force 1284 troops, 21 guns, 3 vehicles, Assault Value = 1

Japanese max assault: 62 - adjusted assault: 13

Allied max defense: 1 - adjusted defense: 3

Japanese assault odds: 4 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Canton Island base !!! [X(]

Japanese ground losses:
9 casualties reported

Allied ground losses:
1528 casualties reported
Guns lost 27

Now as the the CL Mauritus sinking that was due to a Sub as it was rushing to India, The Repulse was hit by 2 torpedo’s on Dec 7th from a sub just outside of Singapore and has not been seen since.

The KB parked just north or Pearl on Dec 8th but only had a small sweep by fighters over pearl, apparently it was clouded in the morning and probably had settings for naval attack, regardless The Japanese has allowed us to reduce many fires aboard our ships and we know where the KB is!

The war has started with Scott definatly keeping to his word that I should experiance surprises, which makes it worth playing, hopefully I have and will give him the same in return!

I put the fighters in Phillipines on straffing unfortunatly they went after hard targets not the transports, but on the brighter side they avoided a 90 plane sweep by zeros!

Prince of Whales bombarded Kuching and has left the area, as Kongo and another BB at least were a slight 120 miles away at sunset.

The japanes subs and dive bombers are making short work of my cargo ships, soon all shipping will cease around singapore and phillipines.
This is happening far to often for my taste,

Dec 12th 1941

The Repulse continues its rush thru the straights of Malacca, shrugging off bomb after bomb, its AA gunners having a field day on the helpless Japanese airplanes, below is one of the unfortunate victims.

In Burma, the Japanese has 3 units next to Tavoy one a division at least, he has cleared Khota Bharu, and has moved into Alostar the push towards singapore begins.

Kutching still holds although he bombard my troops with Kongo and Haruna, a CA force is just to the east catching helpless AK's fleeing the Phillipines. Tarakan also holds but a CL group has joined in the bombarding. Zuiho patrols north of Borneo with Rhujo to the south.

The phillipines aside from normal bombings, has seen a few more landings for cleanup but the real effort will be at Naga from the south where he has two divisions and eventually I am falling back to Clark from the north.

Rabaul still holds, he has not launched another attack yet, probably waiting for reinforcements.

The KB has finally moved away from pearl after its 3rd strike, what it could be hunting[8|], convoys, carriers I don't know but its airgroups have taken a toll and it will not be the same till it replaces pilots.

Fuerer King, no amount of support can save the Japanese empire
