I had most of SPI games and Strategy & Tactics Magines from 1973 . Then my wife sold them on ebay when I started playing the compuerized versions of the games. Some of major games went for over 300 in poor condition. Oddly most were sold overseas

VG's game of the period was actually quite good and very playable. Was is Pacific War?

I don't know but the game I played was designed by Gary G. and I don't know the company that published it

This wasn't a computer game. I've played GGs Pacific War too. This was a board game and a good one.

I do also. I was a bit disappointed that supply is now abstracted.

Yes there was experience increase but nothing like Witp. By the end of the war the Japs were throwing level 0 guys around almost exclusively.

I loved the operational aspects of the game. It just felt right.

The new War in the Pacific from Decision Games incorporated some parts of Pacific War. The land combat comes to mind immediately. Can't think of some of the other parts offhand.

In Gary Gygax's WitP, Hiroshima and Nagasaki disappeared when a magician hit them with the fireball spell...oh wait.  Nevermind.

I also have almost every game GG made as well as most of SSI and Talonsofts games (dating back to the Apple II versions, and yes, my Apple II still works).

I thought I was weird for hanging on to all my old Apple ][ wargames! (maybe I am, as I don't have an Apple anymore?)(But then again, I've converted most of them for use on my PC with an emulator). I believe I still have everything SSI did, up to the advent of the fantasy fad.

Apple ][ Forever! (at least in spirit *grin*)

I started gaming in 1973 when a friend in HS turned me on to Kriegspiel. We played Blitzkrieg next and then moved on to the two games I really cut my wargaming teeth on....Panzerblitz and Panzerleader. From there a serious obsession developed that has resulted in a collection of games numbered in the several hundreds. I was a playtester for Advanced Third Reich..even managing to get my name published in the design credits.

And, yes, I am old and grayhaired. I'll be 51 this summer.

Holding onto your old Apple games doesn't make you wierd.  It makes you a pack-rat.

Converting them for your PC yourself, makes you wierd.
