... I couldn't play it with Media Player - the colours were all currupted.
Downloaded Media Player Classic and no problem.
It's probably me missing some codecs or something, but just so you know.

And it's a great video, as mentioned.
Probably one of the best and most representative game videos I've ever seen.
Very professional, very communicative - really got the message across about the game's core features.
And the female narrator sounds really sweet...
That deep, soothing voice almost made me buy the game all over again! (hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes here...! )

How strange.  Which version of the Windows Media Player are you using?  Anyone else have this problem?

Thank you for the kind words regarding the video.

I've passed your compliments on to our narrator.  I asked her to do it because she has one of the most naturally musical voices I've ever heard, but she had never done anything like this before and was a bit nervous about how she was going to sound.  I'm sure she would love nothing better than a thread filled with praise for her sweet, deep, soothing voice -- it might even encourage her to do things for us in the future.  I'll be more than happy to pass along any further appreciation of her very dulcet voice.... but please, no phone numbers.

Thanks!

I agree about the female narrator. And I am pleased to point out that now that a certain other company no longer is employing its distinguished female graphics artist, for WCS to have this narrator involved with our company means not only that we have closed a major gap between us and the competition, but we are now ahead. Pity that Matrix doesn't provide valentine emoticons for you boys to use...

No problem - I live in Europe so I couldn't afford the phone bills anyway.
And long-distance, non-communicative, unilateral, semi-fictional relationships never really was my thing, so I'll leave it here.
All kidding aside, first and foremost it is a great reading voice (she should do more voice work if she isn't already) and apart from that it was a really great effect to hear this musical, female voice in a wargame-video. Definitely added an extra spice to the atmosphere. Good voice - and good decision.

I'm using (used) Windows Media Player v. 9, by the way.
And I should add, I haven't experienced this grahics problem before.
But, as I said, Media Player Classic had no problems with it.
I'll try downloading a new version and see if WMP likes that better.

All kidding aside though, the video is very well done and the narrator did a great job.  Had I not already owned a copy, I'd have gladly picked one up after watching this.  Picked up some info about the game I didn't know as well, which is a plus.

It was the high-res version from the Matrix site.
I just downloaded again (using your link) and it's still corrupted.
It plays, but with crazy colours.

The big question is: what kind of 'things' were you thinking of having her do for you in the future and more importantly, is there going to be a video of that as well?

Garrrr! -- I can't very well have her read this thread now

Quit sabotaging my attempts to jump-start a praise-thread!

Well, you could always just e-mail here some "excerpts", thus avoiding the saucier elements in the audience.

Great video! It has almost convinced me to buy it, but 1024x768 non windowed is not really an option. So will there be a window version some day?

Glad you liked the video.

I can build a Windowed version now, but it crashes whenever you move the mouse outside the window.  I suspect most people would be disappointed with that.  I agree it would be nice to have a windowed mode, or allow various resolutions, or (my personal favorite) to support double (or triple or quadruple!) monitor systems.  It's a lot of work though given the code the engine is based on at present.

I'm surprised so many people have problems with their widescreen monitors with this though.  Most widescreen monitors can be set by software to a 1:1 aspect ratio mode, and many widescreen monitors do this automatically.  What kind of monitor are you using?

Oh I was just trying to tease you back, hence the double smiley face -- didn't mean to come off sounding prudish or anything.

Its a NEC Multisync 20WGX2 Pro and it can keep the ratio, i.e. black bars around the image. But I'm soooo happy of its 1680x1050 resolution that I have a real hard time convincing myself to play at any other resolutions. Its just me, I know....

I have a double-monitor and it works fine. It just hides to taskbar if I click away on the other screen but it always unfurls correctly.

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW 1680x1050 and I have no problems running FOF.
Especially the detailed battles look great on a big screen - you can really see and appreciate all the little details in the graphics and animations.
The 226BW is a great monitor and can be bought quite cheap, I think.
