Agreed, now that Guns of August is out and Empires in Arms will be released tomorrow, this title and World in Flames are the last two longterm holdouts. The pressure will become intense from of warmonger whores.

I think I've lost my mind.  I was looking for another game in the Games section and this one is there.

I was about to ask if its been released yet ... but I just checked and I didn't see the "in development" notation.

sorry for the confusion ... wishful thinking gone wild

thanks

The lack of response is just SOP with this site I am unhappy to say. I was looking back at the earliest posts on this forum and they go back to 2000! I was hoping against hope for this game but I doubt this game will ever see the light of day. I am also sick of checking back here just to find the same level of ill courtesy to people genuinely interested in this game.

Hi!
I cant understand why its Matrix policy not to be strict with information and promises.
I dont mean just this promise with the update but the whole planning.
What are the persons, who have contributed with scenarios, told?
Do they have information that we dont have or are they disrespectfully treated?
I am still hoping for this game because the game idea is great.
I think this game is at a new level of wargaming with the combination
of a complex simulation and the "wego-system"
It could be in some senses a worthy follower to "The Operational Art of War" and
in other senses a fullfillment of "Road to Moscow"
Please reflect on this!

C'mon now...

Erik was busy moving during the holidays, and in his defense, you notice that he did NOT say which Christmas he was going to give an update before. He did NOT say "this Christmas" and could have meant any, unspecified Christmas between that date, and...whenever...

No discourtesy intended, but the office move right before Christmas, a few last crises before that and so on kept me from having meaningful progress to report. I should have been smart and not posted any kind of deadline as that just tends to get me in trouble when I'm being pulled in too many directions.

We're still working on testing the AI and making sure any issues are resolved before we do major additional scenario overhauls to incorporate it. I'll have more news after the holidays, when I have more time to move this along.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks

To have a "nothing to report" post is far better than silence, atleast IMHO

Now that the other releases are out of way I see no reason not to make this top priority.
It is obvious that this game lacks development resources and only way to help that is to throw in some more.

I play pbem's games the 90% of time so have a smart AI is not a priority for me.

Due to the WEGO format of the game, AI work is an absolute necessity, even if there was no single-player mode. This is because the routines for your own forces acting and reacting within the turn have to be programmed to have an "artificial intelligence".

Interesting, never really consider the AI a function requirement of the Cheyenne WEGO game.

Are you also involved in the development of Combined Arms?

Very easy, it's just a question of asking the guys who did V4V and W@W more than 10 years ago...

Exactly, those are the best pc wargames ever made and I expect CA to finally steal the crown from them.

JAMiAM had probably Genral Orders and Reserve settings in mind. Former allow a player to give broad instructions to battalion commander when they encounter ennemy on his way. Units can for example put in defensive mode, by pass or attack. Reserve allow a player to set units responses to enemy activity. It can be used either offensively or in defense (i.e involving unit to a running combat), or 'track' an enemy unit having breaktrough player's line.

Probably not. In V4V series, AI could be adapted to a given situation. CA's AI has to handle any scenarios that could be done with editor and hence cannot use some specificities of terrain or unit as would a dedicated AI.

Old DOS games can run on modern PCs using DOSBox.
