For Those That Preorder From Frank Hunter

Post by David Heath »

Hi Guys

As you know there are some of you that preordered Guns of August directly from Frank Hunter before we became the publisher of the game. If you preordered from Frank Hunter you should expect an email from Frank with a discount code. This order code will allow you to order the digital download version with the box edition including standard shipping and handling.

These code should be sent out by Frank sometime between Wednesday - Thursday July 25-26. To use them simple go place your order in either US or Euro store. Then apply the discount code and it will reduce your price to paid to zero. Now if you will need to pay for the difference if you want shipping to be something other then standard.

The discount codes will only work in either the US or Euro store. This will be based on where you were having the game ship to. You can not use the code for the US store in the Euro store etc.

The box edition does come with a full color CD box case, full color CD label with your serial number printed on it and a full color printed manual.

If you have any questions please let me know.

David

Hello

I've received my coupon for GOA. Thanks to Frank and Matrix.
Just one thing: i'm living in Belgium and i've paid shipping costs: 5,70 €. It's not really important (i'm happy to have the game...after 5 years of waiting...). But i have understood, reading your explainations, that shipping and handling costs are included with the order code.
I'm wrong or there is something that i've misunderstood ? [&:]

Hi

Each coupon is worth $35.00 for the game $10.00 for a box copy and $10.00 for shipping and handling for a total coupon worth of $55.00 USD.  If might be a little short depending on what shipping options you select.

Hello David

I've choosen this option: Physical Shipment Plus Download (26,99 EUR) and i've paid 5,70 euro for shipping cost (using paypal).
I don't think 26,99 euros is higher than 55 $ but maybe i'm wrong...

We'll check with Digital River, my understanding was that the coupon would cover up to $55 in costs in whatever currency and your purchase comes out to more like $45 or so - it should have been covered.

Yes I had the same problem - having to pay through Paypal an extra £3.70 (£3.15 shipping plus 55p VAT on it).

Other matters mentioned in earlier draft are now sorted.

I was chrged $8.15 for UPS shipping here in the States. I also thought that the shipping was suppose to be covered by the coupon, but I went ahead and ordered anyway.

Hi Erik,
I'm pretty sure the shipping is charged regerdless the coupon amount, following the invoice detail I received:

Extended Download Service $3.99 correspoding at 3,05 EUR

Sub Total: 3,05 EUR
Tax: 1,40 EUR
Shipping: 4,72 EUR
Total: 9,17 EUR

Bests regards
Marco.

I was also charged $8.15 for UPS ground shipping. So it doesn't seem the full $55.00 credit was factored in.

I have the same problem.

I seem to be charged postage £3.15 plus VAT £0.55 giveing a total of £3.70. Not alot 'tis true.

It seems no matter what Digital River wants their cut. If you are allowing $10 for shipping I make that about £5 at todays exchange rate!!!!

Ok, we resolved this issue with Digital River on how the coupons were setup. Those of you that were charged for shipping will have that shipping charge refunded. Those who haven't used their coupons yet, they should now correctly cover both the game cost and the shipping cost.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik,

Looks like the shipping is still being charged. Shipping of £3.70 on order no. 1632681519 @ 22:30 GMT (well, BST), via UK portal. The order was placed after your post, but the coupon code was issued before (if that makes a difference).

np as far as getting the money back, just thought you should know.

Wow he found my order
June 17th 2002 [X(]

I think that beats my old record between payment and shipment which was when I ordered a book from Amazon that was out of print and on backorder and they sent it to me out of the blue 21 months later [:D]

Well what a nice surprise, Fallschirmjager. Although you mentioned you weren't as interested in GoA today as you were when you ordered it, I recommend giving it a go at some stage. It really is a fine little wargame, and you may just end up pleasantly surprised like myself at what you find.
