I apologise if these are well known but I just got an email saying these are from an old Brownie Camera that has been stored since 1941. They're pretty spectacular. Apparently the sailor who took them was on the USS Quapaw ATF-100 (according to the email).

Cheers, Neilster

I think I may have seen a few of these pictures on another forum, but they're still extremely spectacular! Check out the aircraft in picture #3 ... is that actually one of the attacking Japanese aircraft, or is it a later photo with a friendly plane?

Friendly plane I figure...look how everyone is along the rails of that sub...they wouldn't be just standing there if the attack was still in progress.

A sad day indeed.  As bad as that day was the photos really bring it forward to understanding it more.

Yeah, I suspected the "found in an old camera" bit was a bit too good to be true, especially given the scope and range of the shots and the fact that a lot of them looked familiar. Hence my caution in the original post.

This is an interesting picture. The dark object just to the right of center looks like a submarine rescue bell. Didn't know they had those back then.

These pictures are not long lost photos of the attack. (It doesnt make them any less interesting.)
