I can neither confirm (, ) or deny that we are also working on an updated FPG like release for the new game engine. Nope nothing to see here...just keep moving along...that's swamp gas, not a Leopard tank...

That's great.....or not....

I'd truly like to see that and would purchase it.

Edit:

If it were to happen, new game or patch for the current version?

I can neither confirm or deny my future purchase of FPG, but can say I love the new ME version and presently leaning towards purchasing, but with that being said, if FPG is being upgraded, which can neither be confirmed or denied, I would also, which can neither be confirmed or denied, be tempted into purchasing FPG ASAP.

I just love forum double talk.

sabre1,

Rob and I are still working on it. We are slowed by day jobs and family matters and we are having trouble locating some interested folks to help with maps/scenarios/campaigns whiel we work code and data item. We are still waiting on a bit more map artwork (roads/rivers stuff) to have a full starting palette for map making. Trying to get OOBs/TOEs sorted out for the time periods is also slower then hoped. We do have all of the data for the platforms/weapons/sensors for the 4 countries spanning 1948-1979 done and 95% of the platform sils are done too ( a few odd stragglers to knock off). Formation information of a consistant nature for those 3ish decades if very hard to find. We have a ton of source, but digging through it all to get decent numbers is taking a lot more time then I would have liked and we are looking at simplifing them to get it done enough to final test and ship. Given all of the editing capability in this version, folks will be able to adjust and add to the data that ships. Part of the delay in this version of the game engine has been to work in all of the various editors and other mod capabilities (graphics/sounds). Not as cut and dry easy as it sounds. A number of new features requested from Flashpoint Germany have added to extra work in the AI and to most of the code routines. If we can get some additional heads helping out soon, we may be looking at an Origins time frame. The Revamped FPG (called Red Storm- covers 50s-80s) needs a ton of map graphics work in order to do maps/scenarios/campaigns, but the platform/weapon/sensor data is 90+% done and only the OOB stuff will need tweaking from the ME versions to make it viable. Matrix is also interested in seeing the game system go into WW2 as well and with a bit of tweaking to the artwork for RS and a bit of data work ( we have a few WW2 platforms in the game, but a bunch more will need to be researched and converted into our data system) we would be in a position a few months after RS releases to get that one done (again faster if we can find a few dedicated folks to do maps/scenarios/campaigns).

I hope that tell enough of where we are. The game looks good and run well right now. Rob is knocking down a few minor bugs and we are tweaking the new AI and combat code. I think folks will like it once it is out. The game should be fun and the ability for 3rd party folks to jump in with new stuff should keep the game very replayable.

More info when I know more. Thanks.

Jim, have you ever played this game PBEM?

No, I haven't. I don't actually have a copy of FPG any more as I gave it away after playing it to death. PBEM is one of those methods of playing I'd like to get into, but never seem to manage.

PS Capn Darwin, is it ready yet? Any chance of another update please?

I just started playing PBEM games on the "blitz". http://www.theblitz.org The system is set up as a ladder so the more you win the higher your score. I would like to find some opponents to play "off ladder". I'm not sure what games you have but if you would like to try a "friendly" Pbem game I would happy to accommodate. Actually, the best way to get started is by setting up two games with each player playing both sides.

Hi Stone,

The name of that site is familiar, I'll visit either tonight or tomorrow. I will also pm you a list of my games and we'll have to set something up. Brill, thanks for the offer

Good evening sports fans...

We are still all alive and well (or at least getting over various flu's, vacations and holidays). The game is slowly moving forward. Rob is working bugs and AI and Merrick is working on maps for scenarios. I've been fairly tied up and I'm way behind on data work. I 'm using my holiday break from work to play catch up on other projects sitting in front of data work in my freetime queue (two jobs for my dad, two other items, and then ME Data). Of coarse going into work the past three days for a few hour to help with things has slowed what progress I was hoping for. Once I get back to hammering on the ME dataset I'll also have more time to post updates and pics as we work toward getting a finished product.

We definately thank those of you hanging in there. Have a safe and Happy New Year (hopefully with a finished game to boot).

I did notice that Capn Darwin posted in the Wargamer, but nothing here. Just an update of information would keep the interest up on this game.

Yes, it is not going to happen any time soon but it is on our road map. We did a realistic assessment of how fast we can move and get new games out and the results are encouraging us to think in years and not quarters of years as we had previously hoped. Its time will come though!

Cheers, Rob C
