I'm going to speak my mind no matter what the consequences.

I've been away from the Harpoon scene for over 4 years. I returned to find what in my humble opinion is a better version of a game I love. Not only that but there's a reasonably good process in place to continue to update and improve the game. I am actually involved in it due to Mr Don Gilman's kindness and his unexplainable notion that I might help the above process

I first purchased Harpoon minis rules in 1986/7 too long ago to remember, then Harpoon 2 in 1994. I didn't even own a computer at the time! That game consisted of a set of floppy discs, containing the single player game and 15 scenarios (GC1). No editors, DB or Scenario. Then there was H2AE, with lots more scens and a scen editor and DB editor that most people couldn't use. I've totally missed H3 except the beta many years back and now have come back to Harpoon and H3 ANW.

Take it from me and I can't say much due to the conditions of working on the Beta. This game will move a quantum leap forward with the release on the next official patch. I personally witnessed and was part of a bug solving moment a week ago today while in an IRC meeting of the beta team.

A bug was reported, identified, confirmed and fixed all within a 10 minute time frame. Testers could access the new beta within 24 hours and confirm the fix. Rest assured it's not like nothing's being done, work is progressing at a steady pace and there will be lots of new features to try out.

So I ask everybody to try to get on with each other. People often complain about the problems with Harpoon. I reckon the game has issues because we seem to have way too many issues with each other. The only real traffic I've seen has been what I'll call the "Beta 15 insult thread". I posted a thread about favourite scens mid October and had 2 replies!!! (thanks Sunburn and KlubMarcus).

Somebody want to start a thread on tactics in ANW/Real Life Navies? If we start discussing how to get sub through ASW screen maybe people will learn how to use the game that aren't up to speed with it like some of the old hands. Threads like ASW tactics or Air ops against concentrated air defences from carriers are great nurseries for scenario designers. It's also a good place for the newbies to H3ANW to pick up tips and trick to use in the game.

Let's leave the past behind and start to be prepared to move forward in a big way.

Thanks

Darren

That's well spoken... I'd love to have such threads...
