I was going through my endless supply of papers from my deceased Grandfather's belongings, he passed away @96 some 15 years ago, and found a handful of original black & white postcards of Hitler in various poses. My family came from Germany in 1937 when my Mother was 17, i imagine the postcards might be a valuable commodity some day.

My guess is that about a zillion postcards with Hitler on them were manufactured. Have a look on ebay for prices. If you wait long enough though, almost anything becomes valuable.

I suggest gaining some insight into Hitler by reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Then you might want to start a small fire using the postcards.

Ah! William Shirer. A very good read, although bits of it are slightly out of date now. It's especially valuable for understanding the pre-war political manoeuvring. The fact that Shirer was in Germany at the time gives it an authenticity and enables him to use great anecdotes.

Unless they are autographed, I doubt it. As Neilster says there are likely to have been a awful lot of them printed.

Given that philosophically the Nazis weren’t all that keen on capitalism (hence National Socialism), I think it’s deliciously ironic if one can make a buck out of flogging off their stuff. It’s like poking old Adolf in the eye, tweaking his nose and setting fire to his ludicrous moustache.

Cheers, Neilster

My thoughts exactly, and btw i have studied/read/watched every iota of information on WW2, Hitler, Germany and even the occult ties to the SS...so having found some postcards does not make me a member of the AB/Nazi...just a collector of historical artifacts.

In regards to Nazi Socialism:

Early on (in the 20's) the Nazi party publicly espoused socialist ideals. These ideals attracted the working man, who struggled with unbelievable inflation.

(Basically, a collapsed economy. If I recall, he gives a striking example of where a bank mails somebody a check. the accompanying letter states that the account, which had been activating in 1916 with several thousand Mark's, was no longer profitable to manage. So the account was disolved, and the money returned to the accoun holder. The stamps on the envelope amounted to more than the returned balance. That would be like a bank today, in the US, cutting a check for 12 cents and mailing the check to the account holder.)

Later on, once Herr Hitler gained office, he cut deals with the Army, and the industrial movers and shakers, to keep his Govt functioning. Hitler was all for controlled capitalism as long as he was the one in power.

Favouring the army and heavy industry certainly is different from what his ideological foe the Soviet Union did, not to mention the Japanese Army which also favoured communism and state economic planning

I take it your pointing out that he did nothing different from the Soviet Union or the Japanese, in regards to running their economies. True.

Both the USSR and Nazi Germany "talked" about being better than the robber-baron economies of the US, it still seemed mostly for public relations purposes.

I dont think the Japanese claimed to have a government that "looked out for the working class". They were unabashedly "State first, individual second", as that fits more in line with the "sense of duty" that was/is instilled into the people.

The true radicals that wanted to do away with money (in communism), and the army (in Germany) were purged out when they made too many waves.

For example: Ernst Rhoem wanted his brownshirts to completely replace the regular army, as a combined police and military force, and he wanted to start his "workers revolution" in regards to captilism after the Nazis were voted into power in 1932. Eventually, he was executed. I think Hitler did this to calm the nerves of the other power blocks in Germany (the Army, the industrialists), as well as get rid of a potential future trouble maker.

I know but I wanted to keep it short. More irony, in that the people who yearned for a folkish, Aryan state built the power of massive industrial companies, flooded Germany with foreign labourers and drove Germans into the cities for war production.

Have a look on Ebay.

If the wife had not hidden the credit card I would have bought them myself.

Throught history there have been many monsters that have risen to power and slaughtered tens of thousands if not millions I see their pictures in History books and TV all the time.

I dont see how having a postcard set of an infamous historical character is glorfying that individual be Hitler, Stalin, Vlad the Impaler or my mother in law

Maybe we should burn all the books that mention him or have his picture in it, or any book that we just don't think fits our way of thinking.

Each to there own though.

How do it stop my posts saying 'in reply to'?

Cheers

Jev

So, you'd never play the SS, or even a Wehrmacht unit in a WW2 wargame?
