That said it is enjoyable. The interface is good if not perfect, and you soon learn to deal with the oddities...
I do like the RAF bomber offensive theme.
If you want a simple version that's easy to play and finish pretty quickly this will do.

Yeah I agree with this summary. I love the other guy's rant btw trashing John Tiller when he's has no involvement with this game at all!

I'm finding HPS's "Defending the Reich" a pretty addictive "just one more turn" game. Very quick to play and some cool strategic and operational problem solving. I'm playing as the Allies and the key to winning is keeping your losses below a trend line whilst causing as much damage in acreage as possible. However, it is easy to loose 60 planes in week's missions. A sure way to give the Germans an overall win.

I hope more than anything that Matrix does this Talonsoft re-release (ie: "Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich") properly. I've always wanted to play the originals but I just can't sit in front of a screen for a half-hour to an hour and have nothing to do but watch. And the work load in running the Air War over the Reich is just massively micromanaged. Please reduce this workload and make the resolution phase something to enjoy guys!

Cheers,
Adam.

I strongly disagree here. I find the massive detail and micromanaging the most interesting parts in BTR, these are the reasons that got me addicted to BTR, there are not many games of this genre in the market anyways. These are the reasons that make BTR unique.

Hi Augenstein,

I agree with you, being a control freak I love all the micromanagement (production, research etc). I understand that not everybody wants this level of control but some people do.

Hi Guys

This game is going to be more of a War in the Pacific style game set in the Air War over Europe.

This is an area where the Matrix complexity ratings come into play. I personally love to bury myself in the details while I attempt to think, scheme and plan my way to a victory. I think these types of games are few and far between and have suffered a great deal at the hands of the real-time strategy products that have been dominating wargame design over the past few years. Please keep the original intent of these wonderful games in tact and let's not trade depth and detail for eye candy.

Hmmm
overall, got to say, this is still the same game as it was, with most of the known bugs knocked out, and if anything more details to play around with

we have added new features, touched up and correct some that didn't work the way they were planned

overall, I would have to say, if you liked it in the past, you will like it now (hopefully even more so), but if you didn't like the game before, I do not think you will like it now

Excellent! It's not suprising that Gary's games hold up so well considering his talent and experience. I still own original copies of BOB & BTR and will gladly pay for this release.

hello, i read all the topic, and DTR seems to be very interesting, but i will have any questions please !
-is Matrix Games still sold this game ? i don't find on the Matrix website : a link ? ....
-is the game running on windows seven and Win10 ?....
-i have noticed there were two patches P1 and P2 : the first of 10 Mo and a second of 63Mo
To patch the game , we do have to patch with P1 (10Mo) , then P2 (63 mo) ....? or only with P2 (63Mo) ???
thanks for answer

Thanks Peter for the link, so the requirements are for Windows XP or greater !

I will deduce that the CDROM comes with the latest patch...

I found and will purchase the game via a... Noble knight Merchant !
